you can not be a football coach AT ANY LEVEL and not have some fatherly instincts toward your players. at least coaches that are human (which may eliminate saban). i'm sure miles is very disappointed and probably pissed that tm is headed down the wrong path. when one gets older the mistakes of youth are disappointing because us older citizens have a better understanding of the challenges of life.

Why do the people in this thread keep thinking that Tyrann is the one that disappointed Miles? Wasn't Jefferson the player that Miles stuck his neck out from 2009 on? In 2010, wasn't Jefferson totally outplayed for the first 7 games of the year by the backup quarterback but Les Miles stood by his guy? In 2011, wasn't Jefferson the guy who after being cleared of a felony charge (misdemeanor still pending) was inserted back behind the center starting 2 days after the grand jury verdict? Wasn't Jefferson the guy who Les Miles trotted out on the field for every snap of the SEC and National Championship games even when going entire halves without gaining a first down?

What does this say about Miles' judge of character?

In private, Les will tell you that Tyrann was his favorite player to have coached. He's definitely saddened, disappointed in TM7's recent actions

well, i wonder just how many drug tests the badger failed before our coach was finally forced to boot him off the team to begin with.

Yes, It seems that Les is a good judge of character.

Character is just a damn word. Being a fast runner or being strong are the only "character" traits most athletes on the football field have.

It says that while he is a good judge of character, he also has compassion which sometimes causes him to act contrary to his judgement.

Deep down he knew, but he believed in second and sometimes 3rd chances especially for young people. These are not easy decisions especially knowing how they can alter the entire future of a human being. Les cares about his players but ultimately, he has a limit.

I don't have a problem with a coach giving kids second, third, or however many chances. But the Miles/Jefferson relationship was more than that. Les Miles either a) hated Jarret Lee to his core, or b) believed in Jordan Jefferson more than any other person without a last name of Jefferson. I truly believe that it was "B", and Les Miles just had complete faith in Jordan. Why else would the Jefferson/Lee saga unfold the way that it did?

I argree.... First off let me say it wasnt miles that kicked TMy7 off the team. I fully believe that if Miles could have kept him on the team, he could have. Thee JJ fiasco from last year is a perfect example. Miles was forced by the university to suspend JJ, but as soon as he could get him back on the field he did. Dont fool yourselves guys, miles had no hand in this. He was told what to do.

Second, why in the hell is TM hanging out with these people. It is obvious to me the whole rehab stint was smoke in mirrors. Kid has had no plan to change his life style. Miles need to address the situation by calling all four players, espically JJ and TM and say, dont you talk to my players, dont you associate with my players, dont ask to come on the sidelines, in fact i would prefer it if you would even come to the games.

Third, the scary thing here guys to me is who do you think these guys were going to sell this weed to. I may be considered a conspicarcy theory guy here... but i have my suspicions that these bags were going to guys on the team.

Miles deserves a lot of credit for dumping his sorry arse before the season started. This is not the kind of distraction the team would need going into Bama week. Timing of it is amazing, good for Les

For the love of GOD!!! do you really believe that it was miles that kicked him off the team? He had no hand in it, the university told him what to do. Look at my post above... as the same with JJ, miles would have kept him on the team if at all possible.

You're an idiot if you think Miles doesn't control what happens in his program. You don't get to his level of success by being a pushover. You have no idea what transpired so STFU

This is where the enigma part of Les comes in. I never got this either. By all accounts Lee was of exceptional character and stuck with the program through a bunch of crap especially from fans. Why Jordan got the nod? Only God and Les know for sure.

It's like Les stays on a fairly steady path day in and day out and then BOOM, he veers off on some crazy detour and later, he's back on the steady path. Les is famous for being nutty, lucky, simple yet complex. There is no other coach like him.

And your an arse hat if you dont think he would have kept him on the team if at all possible.... where is your inside info coming from that makes you think miles kicked him off the team. Pretty sure it was the inside offices at LSU saying there was no guarantee he would be let back on the team next year. Not Miles

He's the coach it's his decision. Believe me no leader is going to compromise the integrity of their organization over 1 guy. You're just a Les hater.
