Anyone else? This speech is electric.

Mulkey: I do coach with passion. I do coach with intensity. I got that from Louisiana. We're fighters here. #LSU

It was an awesome speech.

Definitely an exciting intro for sure

idk how you couldn’t be fired up during her speech.

Not just for WBB...for LSU sports in general it was an exciting moment

One of the best "meet the new coach" pressers I've ever seen. I'm stoked.

First let me say that I think Mulkey is gonna be great and I am pumped she’s here.
But...
Her presser kinda sucked. She didn’t say anything other than she’s from Louisiana. She rambled on and on about knowing where JBE is from and what his sister in law does for a living and other nonsense such as she went to school during segregation. Not a lick about her coaching philosophy or her plan when she gets here. Even when asked directly by Jared Joseph what the first steps to turning the program around are, she said packing up her office in Waco.
I know I’m in the minority here and I know she’s a great coach and will do great things. I just thought her presser was extremely underwhelming.

She built hype and gave assurance to the fanbase.
Maybe not the detailed spectacle some would like, but it probably accomplished what she wanted it to accomplish.

The fact that she said nothing and everyone is still hyped is proof that the fan base woulda been hyped no matter what she did.
I remember after Wade’s presser coming away thinking “this guy has a plan.” I came away from this one knowing mulkey is from tickfaw and JBE’s brother is a sheriff. I just wish she’d have shared any details at all about how to fix our program.
She obviously knows what she’s doing and will do great, her presser just didn’t give us any insight into what she actually plans to do.
I’m also shocked people liked it since so many hated the O angle of “he’s one of us” and her whole speech was “I’m one of you”.

I think her resume speaks for itself and she was just trying to generate buzz. She doesn't need to sell her philosophies or strategies. It's just expected that what she does is going to work. You didn't have that with Orgeron or Wade.

Just a tiny bit of difference between her resume and O's.
She doesn't have to sell herself or her philosophy; her results speak for themselves. I fully understand wanting to know more about the nuts and bolts of her operation, though. I'm curious myself.

Like I’ve said in both my posts, I believe she will be great. I think we will win a natty in the next decade with her at the helm.
I just thought her speech would have been more put together is all.

That’s all I’m saying. I wanted to hear the how and all I got was rah rah rah.

Did you expect her to stand up there and say that she's going to need to get better players in? Or, did you expect her to say that she planned to coach better?
Posted on 4/26/21 at 7:17 pm to Bert Macklin FBI
She's one of the best WBB coaches of all time. I trust her to improve LSU without her having to stand at a podium and tell us how.

No I expected her to tel us what her coaching philosophy is, ya know like every other coach that gets hired by anyone.
To tell us what she believes leads to success. Maybe playing fast or a commitment to defense or something like that. I also expected her to tell us what she looks for in players. What qualities she she ranks as higher than others. Maybe she puts a premium on athleticism knowing she can coach them up. Maybe she would rather a more polished high iq player than athleticism cuz decision making is most important.
I expected her to tell us something, anything about what we could expect. But we got nothing like that even when asked directly.

Correct. But, that would be really disrespectful to current and recent players to say that. She will indeed get better players in and she will indeed coach them better.

She said over an over that it would take time to win which insinuates that our players suck so she wasn’t being overly nice to them anyway.
