Hell we almost stole the game from them which he had no business winning with that pitching matchup.

Correct. You have to feel more confident going forward

My favorite stat of all is LSU is 6-0 in CWS finals and Florida is 0-2.

And Game 1 losers win the series 30% of the time.

Relevance to tonight's game?

I find the guys slinging insults at others by appealing to the "authority" of their glory days to be simultaneously funny and pathetic

I would guess if the conversation was about law, you would feel like you were much more intellectually superior when arguing with someone who hasnt studied law. (I dont know if you're a lawyer but you seem like one)

Its the same with baseball. Someone who played at a high level for 12 years is going to get frustrated arguing with someone who never played past age 12.

It's a message board, man. I have a feeling you'd be be shocked who some of the people on hear actually are. I'm damn certain there are quite a few former players from multiple sports on here. Slinging dirt just makes you look like a never was.

That's great. So, if I happen to be a "never was", I'm apparently unable to comment on, or otherwise have an opinion in respect of, whatever sport it may be that we're discussing in which you may have played?

Again. Appealing to the "authority" of your glory days can be pathetic.

71% actually. But then you knew that after the 1,274 times they said it last night.

What they didn't mention or show was the breakdown of how many of those 1st game winners that won the championship went thru their bracket undefeated and had a full/rested pitching staff versus teams that had to fight back from the losers bracket.

Sure, you can have opinion. But when your go to argument revolves around a stat that has nothing to do with actually playing the game, you tip your hand that you have no clue what you're talking about.

Odds are if you have to dig yourself out of holes vs good competition ur toast. We're toast haha

LSU would be in a hole if they had pitched Poche and lost. They are not in a hole, currently, they are where they need to be: 2 best pitchers rested and needing to win 2.

Think about it. In a similar scenario, OSU laid 13 on our bullpen to our lone homer. We came back to decisively beat them in the second two games and that included dispatching FSU along the way.

I'm not saying that the transitive property applies, but you have to at least like our chances.

My "go to argument"? If anything, you "experience" guys are just lending credence to the "dumb jock" stereotype.

Going through it, it's hard to state one definitive thing although generally it looks like the sweepers had an easier path, less games, etc. 2005, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013.
2010 USC and 2004 CSF being pretty big exceptions.

There's a million variables but looks like most teams that have swept played a lot less ball than UF has leading up to the final series.

One game at a time, let's win this one then look to the next game. Odds, pffft.

Screw statistics.

I think the 71% figure is meaningful, but most of those teams did not start their 5th-6th string pitcher in that first game.
