I was cautiously optimistic, and I still have hope
Even with Grier LSU would have won. This might be looking through purple and gold glasses but LSU has more depth overall as a team.
quote:
but I don't think the Gators will prevail.
Smart Gator fan.

quote:
The loss of Grier hurts, but our back-up (Treon Harris) was our starter for most of last season and is more than capable. He's more mobile, but undersized and less accurate.
All true but he hasn't had playing time this year and that matters. Practice is one thing but the game is another beast. We have traditionally done good against the mobile QBs and think we will also Saturday night in DV.
quote:
Also, I can sense deflation amongst the team with the loss of Grier.
Possibly, but they might also come out fired up to support the guy thrust into this.
quote:
We are OK running the ball. While our o-line is better than anticipated, they are still middle of the pack. Kelvin Taylor is good in tight spaces and can break tackles, but he is by no means a burner. Due to a new qb, I anticipate a heavy dose of Kelvin, which I don't think is a good thing.
I agree. He'll get some yards but won't have a big day. When LSU gets out to a 2 score lead and UF has to throw things will get ugly for the Gators.
quote:
On defense, we obviously need to stop that 1/2 man 1/2 amazing beast of an RB you got. Unfortunately, our LB Corp is talented but very very thin. We run the nickel a lot, which is not the best formation to stop the run.
Yeah, that's what everyone has said since last year and it just doesn't happen. IF you did, we would just throw in Guice, etc. Gonna be a long day for the Gators defense.
quote:
Our D-Line is just Nasty and getting better each game. However, they are way better at pass D than Run D.
Not good for you.
quote:
In addition, our corners are probably the best in the country (side note: we get to see who DBU really is).
We KNOW who DBU is!
quote:.
You guys are going to have trouble throwing the ball, but unfortunately you probably won't need to
You'll be surprised. Can't wait to see all of your DB sticking to our 4 wides downfield then we hit Guice or Fournette for a 54 yard screen pass.
quote:
If this game comes down to field goals, we're gonna lose. Our starting kicker has gone AWOL. Really, awol..coach hints that he is hurt or maybe benched, no one knows. Our new kicker is a walk-on and he plays like one.
Not gonna happen.
quote:
I anticipate a close low scoring game in the 1st half. Our D is good and you guys appear one dimensional (which I would be too with 4-net). However in 2nd half, Fournette is too much and the loss of Grier starts to show. There's gonna be a weird score from a missed xp, safety, or something else up Les's sleeve.
Nope, LSU will be fired up and take a two score lead into halftime.
quote:
I'm gonna go 19-6 tigers.
I'm going LSU 27 - UF 10. Possibly worse. UF goes one dimensional faster than LSU and once you are forced to the air our defense will feast. Our D-Line is very good, LBs good but a bit thin and DBs are as good as anyone in CFB. We also get Jalen Mills back this Saturday which is like having another coach on the field.
quote:
P.S. Loved that butt whoopin' you guys put on Muscrap's vaunted Auburn D
So did we and happy to oblige. If you ask nicely, we'll give one to Sumlin and Saban as well.

I can usually tolerate them better than most except my brother whom is an idiot of a Gator fan.
Bama fans are the worst and closely by are Aggie fans

as long as we take care of the football and don't get any worse on special teams, gators ahead at the half and we win it in the second half.
people are underestimating treon harris. you guys have a better defense than us and if the gators get a two score lead we will probably lose. our defense is thin upfront. if we have to start throwing the ball, i think we're in trouble. b.harris is better than people think, but throwing against the florida pass rush and that secondary is mission impossible for lsu right now.
if the gators keep lsu from having explosive plays in the running game and don't turn the ball over, they will win.
it'll be a good game. we make a couple field goals, gators miss a few.
lsu - 27
uf - 21

Can we please put this silly argument to bed? LSU is and always will be DBU and it's really not even close. It's actually kind of cute that UF thinks they are comparable.
NFL Draft Picks at DB position since 2005 -
LSU (14 total - 10 in first 3 rds)
Rd - Player
2 - Corey Webster
1 - Laron Landry
3 - Chevis Jackson
4 - Travis Daniels
4 - Craig Steltz
7 - Curtis Taylor
3 - Chad Jones
1 - Patrick Peterson
1 - Morris Claiborne
3 - Brandon Taylor
1 - Eric Reid
3 - Tyrann Mathieu
5 - Tharold Simon
2 - Jalen Collins
Florida (9 total - 3 in first 3 rds)
7 - Reynaldo Hill
7 - Dee Webb
6 - Ryan Smith
1 - Reggie Nelson
1 - Joe Haden
5 - Ahmad Black
6 - Josh Evans
1 - Matt Elam
4 - Jaylen Watkins
LSU also has two Jim Thorpe Award Winners for top defensive back in the country (Peterson & Claiborne), two Chuck Bednarik Award Winners for top overall defensive player in the country (Peterson & Mathieu), one Jack Tatum Trophy (Peterson), and one Heisman Trophy Finalist (Mathieu). LSU is so loaded at defensive back that we can have a Heisman Trophy finalist in the defensive backfield (Mathieu) and he still not even win the Thorpe Award for the best DB in the country (Claiborne) in the same year.
Florida has one Thorpe winner from 1996 (Lawrence Wright).
It's really not even close. Everything else you said I agree with for the most part. Good luck to you guys this weekend.

while i agree we are dbu overall, they have a better secondary than us this year.

Sorry for blank posts, I'm at work and doing this on my phone. Guess i need to prioritize, and I'm no talking about stop posting.
Good post hook, don't underestimate our D. I really think it will force you to be one dimensional. However 4-net and the rest of your backs are good enough to win the game. Also a peg-legged pirate can kick field goals better than us

yeah, this is the game where your kicking situation bites you in the arse.
the gators will come into death valley with a huge fricking chip on their shoulder. they will not be intimidated and their dline will whip our oline in the first half. they are 3 deep across at dline, but i think we wear em out midway through the 3rd quarter.

When we look back on LSU's 2015 secondary in a few years, you'll see three 1st rounders in White, Adams, and Kevin Toliver. I know Hargreaves is a great player and will more than likely be a 1st rounder, but are there two others between Neal, Maye and Wilson?
Posted on 10/15/15 at 1:05 pm to dnm3305
neal, tabor and wilson.
if kt was a year older and mills was healthy i might give us the advantage or call it even. we are young right now and i'm throwing our depth in with that.
they beat us at safety (this year) and we can't match their top 3 cbs.

Thanks for posting respectfully on this board. Everyone has school spirit and deep down we all want our own school to win. But it is fun going back and fourth with other fans from other fan bases as long as they are respectful. They don't have to say that LSU is going to win, they just need to be respectful in how they do it. Basically have some good clean banter.

Sorry again for blank message.
I agree over time you guys have had better DBs. You guys seem to have big corners. But we are not to shabby: Lito Shepard, Keenan Ratliff, Reggie Nelson, janoris Jenkins, Joe Haden, major wright, will hill....
This year there's Hargreaves, jalen tabor (stud) and Marcus Maye who will lay the wood.
You guys are traditionally better, but we have a no fly zone of our own

I agree, it's all good. I've felt no disrespect. In fact I can enjoy a good ribbing. That's why I like to post to rivals sights. It's fun to stir the pot.

Honestly, I don't think it will be that close. The crowd is going to be rocking - our passing game is looking better - and we'll know soon enough if Fournette and Guice can run from a 1-back and/or behind Williams and Mouton.
And, I do see us mashing your front 6/7 a bit. I think Collins is a great DC - one of the best in the conference, and he has your guys playing well. He probably wants to stack the box against us, but I think your safeties have no idea what they're up against - how could they be?
I think Florida will be able to move the ball in the passing game and I agree this one may feel a little close in the first half - but with our philosophy, you guys losing Grier, your lack of depth at LB (believe me, we feel your pain) - I think we pull ahead in the second half. Fournette and/or Guice will break a few long runs, perhaps more than 1 or 2 long TD runs - and we comfortably salt it away 38 to 20 (but it will not feel that close).
