re: I’ll just say it … the alt uniforms we wore last year need to go

Why are you including pictures of those teams in their regular uniforms?
Because I knew the guy I was replying to likely didn’t know what some of those teams’ normal uniforms actually look like if they think Notre Dame, Clemson, and Ohio State, and Michigan don’t wear alternates. The point was to illustrate that some of the uniforms that look like they might be normal if you don’t follow the team are, in fact, alternates.

Not a single one of those schools are wearing 6 alternates in your post. That's the point. Nobody is saying don't wear them at all
LSU wouldn’t be “wearing 6 alternates” in that post either. If I posted the same series of photos for LSU, it would be 6 total uniform combos. The same number of combinations as Notre Dame, and 1 more than Ohio State, Michigan, and Clemson.
So LSU wore 4 actual alternate uniforms last year. If you consider the GPG to be the normal purple jersey combo, then we wore alternates for 6 games. Personally, I would argue that the WPW combo has become the default for purple jerseys considering we’ve worn it more than GPG since 2018 or so. In that case we wore true alternates for 5 games last year. (I personally think WPW is the better purple combo better anyway, though I realize many disagree. That’s fine.)
I don’t know if any of those schools wore alternates for 6 games. Probably not. I’m pretty sure at least one wore alternates for 5 games, but I could be wrong.
In any case I agree that we went overboard with it last year. I could do without ever seeing the WGW combo we wore vs. Vandy again. I also didn’t like the GWW combo we wore against S Alabama. And I think we should have worn our traditional GWG for the bowl game, though I don’t know the exact circumstances that led to LSU wearing purple.
That being said - people naming off Ohio State, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Michigan as teams that never (or even rarely) stray from their traditional uniforms are just flat out wrong. If LSU dialed it back to ~4 games instead of 5-6 games they’d basically be in line with the rest of major college football programs. I hope they do.

I can agree with this. I think most of us like the alternates. But LSU went way overboard with it last year.
As for as the Vandy games and bowl game, I think the players (or seniors rather) definitely should have some say in an uniform combo for one of those games, but not both.
Senior night, cool, it's your night. But look like LSU for our bowl game

I think Vandy was probably more of an admin idea than a player decision, but I could be wrong. It wasn’t senior night (that was the following weekend vs. Oklahoma, and we wore WPW).
I get the historical significance with Vanderbilt from the DiNardo days. I just think the gold jerseys look like arse. They were ugly in 1996 and still ugly in 2024.
As for Baylor - there was a tweet from the LSU Football account saying that the Texas Bowl “designated” them to wear dark jerseys as the home team. But I’m not sure how much stock to put into one tweet from the LSU Football account.. it’s certainly possible that some intern was stretching the truth or misinformed.
If not for those two games - one of which may not have been LSU’s choice - I don’t think nearly as many people would have a problem with it. I’m fine with WPW or GPG for non-conference games, and I’m fine with the all-whites a game or two each year (SEC or OOC). Would prefer to see LSU wearing white for all of our SEC games and sticking to GWG for the majority, but I can live with purple on senior night.

Alternates are non-traditional uniforms. Stop trying to claim the classic GPG is an alternate. It is our standard dark uniform combo.
I get your point because of the history, but if you read through this thread, there are several people who consider anything not GWG as an alternate. And like I brought up, there was a 6-8 year stretch where we wore nothing but GWG (other than the 3 forced Gold Jersey games and the UK Purple Pants fiasco) before Saban brought GPG back for one game per year.
I actually get the point to a degree. Even though GPG has historical standing, it’s treated like an alternate only being used once per year.
As for the complaints, the people I’ve been going back and forth with either want nothing but GWG, or the one GPG game. My personal opinion is pretty close to yours. 3-4 games per year in different uniforms (1 GPG, and pick 2 others) should be the limit.

I agree with this. The problem is that LSU wears what MLB calls "City Connect" jerseys. They are a completely different design. All of those pictures above are traditional jerseys in secondary colors. If LSU stuck to that, it wouldn't be as bad. Also, the vast majority of traditional programs (like the ones pictured) don't change their iconic helmets. LSU does. That is wrong to me.
You are 100% wrong. LSU has used the same basic jersey and helmet designs and school colors at all times with their alternates. So much so, that one of the most common (and valid) complaints is that stripes don’t match between some of the variations because they weren’t originally designed to go together. Even the Gold jersey was the same basic design. Gold jerseys also have historic precedence going back to at least the 1950s. Everything you said is the opposite of reality.
For some examples, Penn St changed their helmet that hardly ever does for a playoff game last year. UGA has done both black and white helmets. Ohio St has done red helmets. Go back and look through the post with the pictures of many recent variations. These are just the tip of the iceberg. There is only a small handful of schools that never change anything with their jerseys and helmets.

I just don't like the gold jerseys. They were bad.
I think we will see them again and I have no problem with that, but they need to look better than last year’s version.

I actually forgot about that one. There’s no reason for that one to come back. I don’t remember anyone really liking it.

If it’s a bowl and not a playoff game, let the players decide. If we make the playoffs, I think most us will want to see GWG throughout.

Alumns need to get in BK's ear, and let him know that LSU is not Notre Dame. No one wants a new uniform every other week. Bring them out for your non-conference games, fine. For SEC play, Gold-White-Gold.

So hypothetically, let’s say LSU wore 2 jerseys that were the exact same design but with the colors rotated. That “wouldn’t be as bad”?
.. because that’s what we did.
(Outside of the Vandy game, which would have also been the exact same layout other than a thin white outline around the numbers. I also don’t really expect to see the gold jerseys again any time soon.)
The only difference between LSU’s uniform combinations and most of the other examples I posted is LSU’s inclusion of a secondary white helmet design (which is also the exact same layout with colors rotated). Although even that’s not entirely true, as Oklahoma wore 3 different helmets last year.
