re: I'll ask it. Why did Mett get no meaningful snaps last year?

We ran for 2800 yards as a team. That was our identity. Was our offensive gameplan going to be different with any of those quarterbacks outside of JJ providing us with more of a running option?
I never said JJ didn't deserve to play. But to cut JL's playing time to 0 minutes completely took away any passing game we had.

What difference does it make.2011 has come and gone.WE won the SEC and made it to theBCS game.

Another rational mind on TD.

That TD throw against AU where we could have easily kicked a FG.
Which was A) the right call and B) worked. So please, people, STFU about how Miles went for a TD instead of attempting a long 45 yard FG with an unreliable kicker. From a time standpoint, everything that could have gone wrong did on that play, and there was still time on the clock. Anyone who brings this play up is merely showing their bias and slavish devotion to the narrative, whether its true or not.
I swear to God, when people bring this play up as a negative, I just want to stab them in the head. It was the right call. And it was the right call which worked. It was also FIVE YEARS AGO. Even if it was the wrong call, which it most certainly wasn't, the statute of limitations for bitching about it has surely run out.
Before bringing up this play again, please do the world a favor and just punch yourself in the throat instead. It would be more beneficial to the discussion.

But to honestly think that CLM really thought JJ or JL possessed more talent than ZM in the passing game, is an insult to CLM.
I don't think anyone thinks that. hell, I think Les may have even said that Mett was the most talented passer on the team before or during the '11 season.
but he also thought he had 2 improved senior QBs who could play well enough to win em all. and he was damn near right.
do I agree with every decision he made regarding QBs? no. esp. effectively benching Lee after the Bama game. but given what the JJ/Lee combo had done heading into the SECCG (something like 20 combined passing TDs vs. 4 ints) vs. where they were thru 12 games the yr before (6 TDs/ 10 ints), I think he was justified in making them the top 2.

Still anxiously waiting your reply to my question involving 3rd string quarterbacks and snaps during games.
Still waiting for you to show me where such a rule is written. Oh, wait! No such idiotic aphorism exists, does it, Mr. Authority?

These threads are so goddamn ridiculous
It's over. Done. No reason this should be a 9 page thread in a season that looks so positive 2 weeks in.
If you guys aren't bitching and wondering what might have been, you aren't happy.

I'm ok on that one, but thanks for the advice.

You're right dude. You can continue to state any moronic thing you want on this board and dodge any substantive question that would pose any problem to your stupid fricking moronic posts.

Precisely.
Do people just lie awake at night and think of stuff to complain about?

Finally! He can be taught. How about answering the OP's question? Just saying. Also, what do you know about third string anyway?

Posted on 9/9/12 at 5:34 pm to White Tiger
Two reasons.
1. Les Miles hates LSU and was trying to arrange things so LSU woldl lose every game last year so he could go back to Meeechigan.
2. To pi$$ off knowlegable fans like you.
Everybody knows that you know more about football and team dynamics than Les Miles does. I can think of no other reasons.
That said, I personally want to thank you for bringing the subject up. This site needs more original, ground breaking and thought provoking threads like this.
Thank you so very much.

he knew ZM had more talent, however talent isn't the only factor. It was pretty well reported that Mett didn't show up with the best work ethic, leadership, etc. During the summer, it was mentioned that he was having to pass a couple of classes to remain eligible, Les mentioned during an alumni event, during that summer, that he was a little mad at Mett. The bottom line is you're going to have to earn the job to beat out the incumbent. It's certainly possible Mett may have came in thinking he would just walk in and take the job.
To the point about snaps last year, I would have liked to have seen him get more, but the JJ fiasco really screwed that up. Lee needed all the snaps he could get early, then JJ got the backup snaps once he came back.

Just own up to the facts that are so plain and clear to everyone regarding third string quarterbacks and "meaningful" snaps. wtf does that even mean in the context of football games.

Gosh. You know, Gray, when you put it that way, it has a completely different perspective. Thanks for showing me what really counts for insight here on TD. May you have many more birthdays.

It's 2012. Mett is our quarterback. Leave the past in the past.
