If you were Les and the allegations are true, how would you handle it?

I obviously do not know anymore than the rampant speculation that is running throughout this board, but that being said, if it all turns out to be true, how would you handle the situation?
What would you do with the 50 or so who were reported to have broken curfew?
I would run them extra, but nothing further.
What would you do with the 15-20 who were reported to have been around the fight?
I would run them even more - although I am sure most of them made an attempt to break things up. I hope.
What would you do with the 4 reported to have been physically involved in the situation?
If you threw a punch/kick, you are suspended a minimum of 2 games and are doing major, major running. You are also going to issue a public apology and a private apology to those involved. Regardless of whose fault it was, you cannot have piss-poor judgment like that.
What would you do with the player who reportedly kicked someone and may be charged with second degree battery?
I have been thinking about this alot and more needs to come out on this for me to say anything for certain. If it is true that the man was on the ground and was kicked repeatedly, then this player must be kicked off the team. If it turns out to only be some guys head that was stepped on, then 3 games would be the most I would suspend the player.
Look, second degree battery means a bone was broken. If you and I both throw a punch, but you are stronger than me and you break a guys bone, but I do not, you could be charged with second degree battery and I would get simple battery. Why should you be punished more because you are stronger? The details of this particular part of the incident are very important to establish before you make a decision as a coach.

depends upon team rules and consequences.......
players know all this and they chose to break them anyway.....a strong example of all that were involved has to be displayed by Miles or lose this team forever.........

The general 50 I would work like running dogs.
The 15-20 I would work them even harder and maybe cause some to not start the first game, or play them sparingly the first couple of games (depending).
The 4 who were named would either be kicked off the team (if charged with any felony crimes), or if not, indefinitely suspended from the team simply as an object lesson for the rest of the team and the fan base.
Somebody said it here very well: "You don't mess with LSU football."

pretty level headed post. have to agree on all counts.
the whole situation just sucks.
people who make a big deal about the curfew thing make me laugh.

Depending what? As long as LSU is winning? Let's send a clear message: LSU wants a disciplined team...unless we start to lose.

Kick the 4 off the team and be done with it. Make the others who broke curfew wish they never had.
Wash your hands of it and move on to beating Oregon.

I felt it best when I coached not to have rules. Then you didn't have to enforce them......

Depending what?

agree with OP.
Run the hell out of whole team, as was a "team" event if 50 or so broke curfew.

curfew - run the entire team, next violation is a suspension
involved in physical altercation - 2 games depending upon circumstances, depth chart demotion
charged with a misdemeanor - 4 games
charged with a felony - either dismissal or indefinite suspension based on circumstances

The curfew issue is a non story. The guys were around the fight need to run more. The four named should be suspended until more info comes out.

I'm sure there are some rules on paper that cover it, and I would let that make the decision. I would hope that breaking curfew would result in running until you puke, committing a misdemeanor should result in a significant suspension, and a felony should result in the perma ban.

Kick the 4 off the team and be done with it. Make the others who broke curfew wish they never had.
Wash your hands of it and move on

Which allegations? I've heard just about everything imaginable. For generalization purposes I will say anything from handing out helmet stickers to the players that tried to stop a dui to kicking 2-4 players off the team and suspending maybe 10 more.

how about a second round of curfew checks closer to midnight? at least that would cut out 5-6 drinks between 1030p and midnight

general 50: run them. (done)
15 at shadys: this is the toughest decision, IMO. I'd probably sit them the 1st quarter of Oregon to make a statement. they'd be fired up when they went in.
4 in fight: out first 2 games.
if anybody is proven to have kicked someone in the head or drag anyone out of a car (doubtful): kick them off the team. frick em.

I'll focus on the four. If they are charged with a felony and the evidence clearly suggests guilt, they are done.
I believe Coach Miles is a good man, and I have faith that he will make the right decision in regards to what is right for the team and the image of the university.
