Would you invest in Chase as a top 10?

No doubt he is a talent. No doubt if I were his father I would probably make him sit out.

BUT, consider this. If I were an NFL owner I wouldn’t invest Top 10 money in this kid because he has shown that when given a leadership position he will make a decision regarding money over the team in crucial situations.

Just yesterday the CDC stopped the 6% stat so Jamars decision is not about safety.

Look at the Fournette and Adams investment. Those players will hold out for money.

Now Chase is skipping a year of eligibility after given the # 7 and recently just said he would play.

Mindset, you either are really about the team or you are not. See Devin White.

So will the other 52 men on the roster. It’s professional football. It’s pure business.

Not sure to be honest

If market was free I would have drafted him last year

yes

they don't care about this at all. They care more about off field things that could cause them to miss time or ruin a locker room. This is a guy choosing to focus on his professional career instead of playing in what looks to be a wonky season

You’ll draft him him, but will he stay? Or are you shedding assets in 3-4 years?

Adams gone to Wash
LF just got dropped
Landry and Odel gone.

Name Super Bowl teams with money hungry receivers.

Yes, he is a stud and if you think he will be the next Moss, Julio, Megatron, etc. then it is a no brainer.

You definitely do a lot of due diligence though and try to determine the full situation and all motives involved. You also question him about it and get a read off how well he answers your questions regarding it.

At the end of the day all of these players have risks involved. Some are talent risks, athleticism risks, leadership risks, off field risks, legal risks, etc. so you have to take it all into account. There are 0 players without risk.

If your biggest concern is about being able to sign him in a second contract, that should be a sign that you should DEFINITELY draft him because clearly he’s an elite prospect that you don’t have much doubt will pan out.

5-7 years of cost controlled elite WR play is a pretty nice payoff for a high draft pick

Lol in a heartbeat. Anyone thinking this affects his draft status is drunk. He could have been the first receiver taken LAST year.

This is just dumb. NFL teams are not going to view this as an indictment on his character like spurned fans do. They have no problem with him focusing on his career. As a matter of fact, most probably are encouraging it behind the scenes for this season.

And you say “Adams going to Seattle” to support your claim as if any star player wants to play for Adam Gase. Not exactly glowing reviews for that man in Miami or New York... Adams has been a stud on the field and will have no issues in Seattle with a quality coach and culture

He would have been the first WR taken in a loaded WR draft class last year. Of course someone will make this investment. Wish it would be the Saints

These people will be out of the NFL in few years. In debt and no money.

If I were an NFL owner I would say that his focus is on risk and money. At the end of the day that is how he makes his decision.

But I’m looking for players that’s focus is on leadership, winning and commuting to a shared goal.

How he verbalizes an answer to question doesn’t give me the observables for how I look at players, and that’s as long term assets.

If I’m drafting top 10 it’s because I’m missing a lot of pieces. So this piece needs to be around in a few years.

Not really. NFL windows only last 3-4 years before you have to revamp your roster again. It doesn’t take long for you to get competitive again with the right picks for a couple years

And that level of being consistently good comes from hitting on your middle and late round picks more tha it does relying on your top end picks (excluding QB)

If you look at the draft lineman are at more of a premium because they are

1) better measure of worth
2) longer term investment

Lineman are the safer picks

Who are the troubling picks? QBs and wide receivers. QBs because you don’t know how they will deal with elite pressure and wide receivers because of attitude.

Lol you understand this logic doesn’t make any sense right? You don’t pay premiums for “safer picks” aka commodities that come in larger quantities. You pay premiums (aka trade up) to try to get that sure thing QB ala Chiefs move to get Patrick Mahomes

I can pretty much GUARANTEE YOU that his "people" have spoken with NFL GM's and top brass and THEY have advised him to sit the year out.

If I’m a NFL GM that wants a WR in the top 10 picks of the draft, then I’m encouraging him to sit out and make a business decision. Fans are all emotional about it but the college game is a stepping stone to the pros for guys as talented as Chase.
