To be fair, i believe eventually women's basketball will be better, and they will hit more jump shots, but I think its at least 15-20 years away. To me its an evolutionary thing, men have played basketball many years longer than women.

Bricked layups happen all the time in college boys' basketball, too. ALL THE TIME!!! I've seen LSU miss them. Also bricked free-throws and missed dunks.

So that's not what you are judging the sport on; you're just sexist. As am I :-)

There is wonder in watching a Temeka Johnson make an unbelievable shot that, for me, is cooler than Sylvia's little hook. Maybe it's because I'm short!

At best that is 10 years away.

Until then pass.

Yeah no shite, but every time I see a women's game making a lay up is like the Holy Grail of a game.

To put it in perspective

Male player misses layup - gets ragged on for being a frickup

Female player almost hits a layup - WNBA hype starts.

you must not watch much men's basketball other than LSU b/c we are one of the few teams to consistently miss layups

At least men's basketball players can hit jump shots.

Somebody go look up our men's shooting percentage vs. our women's, please???? I don't have time; I'm on deadline.

I don't think you can say, with absolute certainty, that our men's team can hit jump shots.

Do you kids understand that I'm not saying you aren't entitled to your opinions? Fine, you don't like it. But, empirically, the sports are different, and I like women's basketball much better. If you don't like it, why are you even reading this thread?

Layups will boost shooting percentage.

Did you watch the men's team this year? They shot a pretty good rate.

I don't know where you'd find the info you are talking about, shooting percentages for both teams will include layups, which is 95% of women's basketball, so i'd imagine the fg% is prob just as good if not better

I read this thread because, and only because, I felt called out by the subject that didn't mention chicks bball......FWIW I probaby wouldn't have clicked it if it did......I felt that the OP and yourself made it seem like I was a worser fan for not going to the women's basketball game.....why in the hell should I be expected to go watch something I don't like just cause someone on here thinks it makes me a worse fan for not going?!?

so thats why I read the thread OK

ForeverLSU, I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt until the last comment...derisively mocking a record-tying five consecutive Final Fours...I believe the word that describes you is the nickname for Richard...either that are you are simply ignorant or worse, stupid...Do you have any idea how difficult it is to be one of the top 4 teams in the nation? in any sport? I daresay you've never made the Top 4 of any sport...do you have any appreciation of how hard these ladies work? The blood, sweat and tears they expend? BTW, wasn't Big Baby crying this year playing PRO BASKETBALL? What does that make him? At the beginning, I asked respectfully that my post not devolve into jackasses sharing their opinions that women's basketball isn't worth watching...so why do you guys bother? Why not just go post on a thread where you can be supportive of LSU or perhaps, you prefer to sit mightily in judgment of our football players that you think just don't measure up or maybe you're down on Blake Dean because he's in a slump....whatever,...just leave those of us who love the Lady Tigers alone and go back to your all-knowing comments about sports you "like"...Lady Tiger basketball doesn't want you or need you!

Although I will say I have made the point that women's basketball is not my thing however what I think I can say and most people would agree with is that the partiy in women's hoops is no where near what it is in men's sports. I will say this even though I saw Auburn lose as a 2 seed to Rutgers as a 7 but for some reason Rutgers was playing at home. This is another thing that kind of ruins women's basketball for me whoever thought up the system that allows a 2 seed to go to a 7 seeds house to play the first two rounds must have been either mentally challenged or stupid

Or a 3 seed playing at a 6 seed, in LSU's case

I thought this quote was odd so I looked it up. I'm on limited time, so I looked at Wikipedia. See LINK Says that women started playing one year after men. I thought that would be the case as I have photos of my grandmother with the women's team she coached in the 1920s. My point is that the difference between the men's and women's games has nothing to do with how long they've been playing.

Second point. I would encourage students and alumni to attend the game tonight. The game Sunday night was a lot of fun. Parking was easy. Tickets were cheap. I'm sure the team appreciates the support. This will be a tough game and crowd intimdation of the Cardinals might help.
