Art Cantrell, hands down, game over. My friend was a rookie BRPSO deputy stationed in the old Keg area station. He was on call when the call came in about Cantrell raising hell in the Keg, a pinball machine he was playing..for money back then....malfunctioned. The other 5 deputies on call, hearing that it was Cantrell acting up, all left the station immediately. My friend, wanting to impress & not knowing better...these are his words....walked into the bar alone. My friend was a John Candy clone, big, fat big but huge, 300 lbs +. He stepped into the bar, rapped on a table with his night stick to get Cantrell's attention. "Cantrell turned around slowly, hands still on each side of the machine. stared at me, cursed, picked up the pinball machine & was swinging it back & forth as he approached me. I turned & quick walked out side. " There was no follow up on Cantrell. Freshmen players were hazed in the old jock dorm, Broussard Hall. First nite, 4 varsity linemen approached Cantrell in a hallway. Cantrell picked up a metal trash can, walked slowly to the first 2 linemen, smashed the can over their heads, knocking them down; rushed the 3rd one, grabbed his arm & took a huge bite out of his forearm, swinging it back & forth like a dog chewing on a bone. The 4th turned & ran. Cantrell was never hazed after that.

That story was posted earlier and still doesn’t mean he could’ve handled a heavyweight UFC fighter.

The OP is talking about a bar brawl. As in no rules, anything goes. The word "evil" was used earlier to describe Cantrell. Pretty sure Cantrell had a lot more experience in those kinds of fights. A dirty mindset goes a long ways in those kinds of fights. We're talking chairs, bar stools, beer bottles, anything goes kind of fight. You take your fighter, I'll take Cantrell every time in that environment.

Leonard Marshall DT around 1982. He used to leave offensive linemen bleeding. Tough tough tough player.

My dad told me plenty about him. I was too young to remember it but I got scared of him from the stories. Anyone who's describe like this is the winner. Art Cantrelle

"Art Cantrelle is pure evil, formed of twisted blue steel and raised in the smoldering fires of HELL.”

Have you seen James Stampley fight. Guy is really good. He started a little late to get to a major promotion, but he is a very skilled fighter.
