Wouldn’t say that. It’s gonna go to 7.

I meant the game last night. Bradley had just hit the grand slam when I made that post.

You do know they were the "Colt 45s" for the first 3-4 years in the 60s. Jus' sayin'.

Uh yeah. They were the Astros in the late 60s when I started following them.

Ah, okay. Well that certainly did it then.

Bulletin boards don’t play when it comes to baseball. Maybe affects HBPs and hard slides, but has no affect on pitching and hitting.

Ok...but he still needs to keep his piehole shut.

Can't believe that guy hit 2 batters in a row, walking in one and then gave up a granny.

He's the Giles of 2018.

“Red Rooster” and “Toy Cannon” played for them.
Can you tell me who those players were without using Google?

Red Rooster - NOLA native Rusty Staub?
Toy Cannon - Jim Wynn

Also tell me where they had spring training in 1970 and who their radio announcers were?

Spring Training Site - Cocoa, FL Expo Stadium right off FL520?

Nope. I’ll give you a hint. He played 3rd base.
Who were the radio announcers back then? You could pick up all of their games on AM 1300 in Baton Rouge. I can still hear their voices.

Gene Elston (spelling) was who I listened to with the Colt 45’s. My dad worked on the Astrodome construction job as an engineer and I was fortunate enough to meet Gene when I was 14. I was in AWE because I heard him on the radio for a few years by then. Red Rooster? I was at LSU by the time he came to the Astros. Let’s just say, Astros kinda of took a a backseat from 68-72 when I was in school with exception for standings and following Rader. It was a religion for me since I played third base and was a huge fan of Brooks Robinson - who I still consider to be the best that has ever played that position. Rader of course was my favorite Astros then and I always felt good because of us being in the National League. The biggest travesty was when that idiot Richardson traded Morgan and Cedeño to the freaking Reds for nobody!

Since you brought up the Red Rooster, you’re alright in my book. That just made my day. I’m headed out in a few to the park and pull for my Stros.

There you go! I remember Lowel Passe as announcer too with Gene Elston. Passe was more colorful Elston pretty dry as I recall.
Since you go way back like me you paid your dues and suffered through the bad years and heartbreak of the Mets and Phillies playoff losses.
Can’t believe they finally won it all!
Let’s enjoy the ride now.
