Worst case?

Well, you asked for it.

Auburn wins out as well, and wins the SEC West. The SEC doesn't get a second BCS invite, and Bama slides to the Citrus. Cotton violates its usual "take the best west" team to grab Mizzou, who is truly a western team. The Outback, however, holds true to its "take an East" team mantra. The Peach Bowl takes A&M so it doesn't get stuck with LSU two straight years. and we get:

Sugar: Auburn
Citrus: Bama
Cotton: Mizzou
Outback: Georgia
Peach: Texas A&M
Liberty: LSU

A 10 win LSU team gets the worst bowl bid in SEC history, breaking the record currently held by LSU, as the only SECCG runner up and top ten team sent to the Peach Bowl.

Rest assured that no matter what our record is, whether 10-2 or 8-4, some team (or several teams) that we beat will get a better bowl anyway.

Our track record in this respect is truly spectacular. LSU almost ALWAYS gets sent to a lesser bowl than an SEC team it is tied with. and it usually gets jumped as well. It's amazing.

People who think our worst case is the Cap One have clearly not been LSU fans for very long. Never underestimate the ability of the SEC to put the screws to LSU on bowl selections.

Winning out is a 95+% lock to a BCS bowl. Cap One/Cotton would be the fall back (what is "worse" depends on your opinion I guess).

The SEC is virtually guaranteed 2 BCS bowls. If we win out, that "second" team would have 2 losses; I don't see any other team that would be more desirable than 10-2 LSU considering the name recognition, fan base, and strong finish. Worst case would be if Bama lost to us and then the SECCG; they would have to decide between 11-2 Bama and 10-2 LSU - but Bama would have faltered at the end.

It is also possible LSU finishes top 4 of the BCS, which would be an automatic

Does the Liberty Bowl pick before the Music City Bowl? If we win out and end up in some crappy 3rd tier bowl game, I'd be willing to bet that our fans will stay away in droves in protest.

If we win out but bama wins sec. We are in cotton. The would leave bana with 1 loss in the sugar tamu would have at least 3 losses and aub would have at least 2. No east team would have less than 3 losses. I don't see mizzou staying with 1 loss. So the east team will already have 2 losses going into atl. The loser of that game usually gets the shaft.

According to the players, the cotton bowl rolled out the red carpet for them, not the bcs national championship. They were treated better in Dallas than in Nola. So maybe they'd rather go back to Dallas. Doesn't matter, if we win out the winner of the sec is in sugar. So no way we get to nola, unless bama some how's sneaks into the title game. I think best case is orange at large and worst is cap one if cotton takes a 2 loss aub over us.

I like this scenario.
11-1 Bama left out of National Championship. (Oregon and Florida St.) and to Sugar. 10-2 LSU gets Rose Bowl at large (or Orange).

worst case would be that Auburn and MIssou win out and face each-other in the SEC championship. Winner goes to sugar, loser goes to another BCS bowl. That would stick up probably in the cotton.

Note: if Bama beat Auburn after they lost to us situation would be similar. Auburn with a late win to Bama and a loss to LSU wouldn't be in a better bowl than LSU.

same goes if Auburn beats bama LSU finishes above bama because they beat them.

so I would say work case bowl and most likely bowl would be cotton.
