Don't ever pay a DC 2.5 ever again. Aranda wasn't worth that kind of money, pay the norm from here on out.

Bo Pelini gave LSU 3 years of the greatest defenses this team has ever had. I think the fans upset with Pelini being considered arent old enough to remember, but losing him hurt. No one wanted him to leave. And he did well at Nebraska, who was much worse before he got there, and went straight back to sucking when he left. Pelini has decades of experience coaching on winning, successful teams in the pros and college, plus hes familiar with LSU and recruiting this area. I think the hire would be fantastic.

Clemson PPG - 43.9 - Aranda's D held them to 25
Oklahoma PPG - 42.1 - Aranda's D held them to 28 (14 of those points coming in garbage time)
Georgia PPG - 30.8 - Aranda's D held them to 10
Texas A&M PPG - 29.5- Aranda's D held them to 7

Aranda's defenses won us a championship when it came down to it this year.

If you educate yourself more about good D and football, Bo would be on your list.

If it comes to pass, he will be awesome. Bookmarking your post just in case.

Bo Pelini had us as a top 3 overall defense 3 years in a row at LSU.

You guys are crazy if you would not want him.

He won a minimum of 9 games every year as a HC.

Ill repeat.

You guys are crazy if you would not want him.

There are a number of great candidates and I believe we should pay to get whoeve we want.

But if we can get Bo. Consider it a huge win. This guy was the Aranda of his day and he parlayed 3 fantastic Tiger defenses into a big time job at Nebraska.

Would be a huge get.

Yep, but he is not worth $2.5 million per year. We had to pay him that, and I was in favor of it, because we could not afford the optics of Aggie taking him from us because they could pay more. We have muscled our way into the front ranks now. There’s no reason to overpay again.

C'mon man, quick cherry picking...now the rest of the story..
Texas - 38 averaged 35
Vanderbilt - 38 averaged 16 (one was a pick 6 to be fair)
Florida - 28 averaged 33 with cupcakes thrown in
Ole Miss - 37 averaged 26
Arkansas 20 average 21

Once again, there are cupcakes thrown in with all the opponents...the SEC scoring averages would be LESS than the overall average

Aranda was very inconsistent and did NOT win the NC...the LSU offense won the NC

Bo never did as poorly as Frost is doing at Nebraska. He had them doing pretty well, Nebraska isn’t going to be a major power anymore those days have come and gone but they were about as good as they’ll be with him and he’s a great Defensive mind. He will kill it here. As a poster mentioned above, it really hurt to lose him, he will be a slam dunk.

This is the last time I am going through this with someone. I said the defense was fine all season. And all season all a lot yall could talk about was Ole Miss, Vandy, Texas. Let's go through them.

Texas - This was a top 10 matchup and the teams were headed in different directions. Texas that finished the season with a barely winning record was NOT the same Texas team we played in September. Had Texas managed to win that game, you are looking at 2-3 Loss LSU.

Vanderbilt - They only scored 24 on our defense and our entire DLine was out for this game. Also, this game was 38-17 and in hand going into half.

Florida - We had no film on Trask and he was money on 3rd down. This is really the only game I'll say the defense looked suspect, and they finished that game by holding them to 7 in the second half, again, when it actually mattered.

Ole Miss - This was the game after Alabama, Delpit was nursing an injury and it was 30-7 at one point.

Arkansas - see above.

I'm not trying to convince you. I am telling you that you are wrong about Aranda. I said after all of these ball games that the D would be fine when it mattered, and guess what? They were.
