that would be pretty crazy

Think about it. If JJ could actually run this play, defenses won't know the WT is happening until the slot man goes in motion. They won't know whats happening until its too late. And vice versa, you line Shep up at QB and the defense will be waiting for the motion man that never actually comes (defense already on its "heels"). I just really love keeping the defenses off balance.

The only thing that worries me about Shep and this formation is his strength to break tackles. Since this is a misdirection play, a lot of times you will have to break an arm tackle of a DL/LB who is "flowing" the wrong way. Is Shep strong enough to do that right now?

The only problem I have with the whole entire formation is the necessity of every team to rename it. It was originally called the "wildcat" formation. Why is it necessary for every team to rename it to their own mascot... the wild hog, wild reb, wild tiger etc. Are we that insecure as to not keep the name of the original formation?

with JJ split out wide we have a 6-4 kid who can run and jump, so he will be an actual receivign threat

I started a thread about this 2-3 months ago after seeing OSU move Pryor out in their bowl game. I like it.

Also, I wonder if we'll see Randle throw any passes this year. With him, JJ, and Shep, we could have 3 legit passers in the game at the same time.

This formation is a great way for shep to get in the game while getting JJ out to chat with the coaches. A guy like Shep is better suited to play QB. Other guys who could would need to be in the Skylar or Early Doucet type of player... not JJ. John Williams, Richard Murphy, hell even Chad Jones.

We did run a little of this last year and I belive Richard Murphy was getting the snap.

We ran a direct snap running play a few times last year, but we have never ran the Wildcat

We lined up with Richard murphy and Charles scott in the backfield. He just happend to take a direct snap. The post is called the formation... which is what we lined up in.

the wild-x play is pretty much based on the option play off the sweep man. no sweep, no wild-x

on a side note, are you worried that your thesis about the combine being slow is bunk yet?

times have not really improved in pro days. this is just not a fast draft class

LSU has even tried its hand with the “Wild Tiger” at times this season with running back Richard Murphy, but with minimal success.

Its scary to think that kw, randall, shep, and jefferson can all be on the same field with the ability to throw.

Shep and kw to jeffs side and randall as a pitch/motion guy.

That's insane.

i really don't consider KW a real passing threat. 1 lucky pass isn't to be expected imho

Yes, slowflowpro..... you are always right with anything that ever has to do with LSU. When I saw RM in the backfield looked at the formation with backs and Oline it couldn't have been the Wild Tiger. I guess my years of coaching football while you are in law school were for nothing. Just because they didn't use the motion or the dive fake doesn't mean it wasn't the formation.
