quote:No I'm repeating what's evident over a career that's been plenty long enough to afford the opportunity of holding a DC position.
Are you saying a guy who has coached and played football all his life doesn’t know football?
Only an idiot would think just because someone has been a position coach for 25yrs they know football strategy. They should be real good at teaching tech though.
quote:WTH? I never once said this.
It’s also moronic to say defensive coaches don’t know offense and Vice versa...they scheme to stop the other side so they know about all phases of the game.
You O protectors love to fabricate stuff.

I think it’s worth taking the risk vs losing him. At least we’d know the defense would still be great, it’d just be about him finding a complimentary and quality OC to run that side of the ball. I feel like after what he’s seen since being here with Les and O, he wouldn’t meddle too much.
People are fixated on prior experience but that’s not a prerequisite for success in this day and age. Look at Jimbo once he took over. Look at where Kirby Smart (year 2) and Lincoln Riley (year 1) are now. All 3 at major P5 programs. Not to mention Dabo at arguably the best program in the country currently.
You have a proven commodity like Aranda, you do what it takes to keep him. IF he wants to be a HC, he should be a front runner

You’ve just proved your football knowledge...not to mention we are talking about O who essentially has 5 yrs of head coaching experience compared to a guy who has none!
What is the extent of your football knowledge to have any input on what qualifies someone to be a coach?

Same way I felt when you clowns were making the same kind of post about Cam a few years ago.

LSU will let Aranda slip away eventually. You can take that to the bank and I'm sure we will all be playing the if only game afterwards.

He doesn't want it. You tards need to stop flipping burgers.

quote:great. You picked the outliers, and 3 of those are Hall of Fame coaches.
Tom Osborne, Joe Paterno, Barry Switzer, and Jimbo Fisher all won national titles at their first gig.
Please tell me how many first time head coaches have failed.

Dennis Johnson is more of a fit

Who was saying Cam Cameron should be a head coach? Why would we want some mummy who had been fired everywhere he went to be out head coach? We promoted a d line coach to head coach and that was fine but promoting a d coordinator to head coach is a problem?
Posted on 12/30/17 at 5:28 pm to tigersquad89
I bet if his name was arandeaux and he owned a shrimp boat you O lovers would want him.

Aranda's career path and history seems to be success and excellence every step of the way.
Special Ed has failed miserably anytime he has been expected to do anything more than be be a Dline coach and recruiter.
Aranda will be a Head coach at a major program somewhere if not here.
Based on what I have seen from Dave Aranda I woukd much rather see him on our sideline than the opponents.

I believe that a particular personality judgement of a coach should make him unqualified to be a head coach. Aranda strikes me as and extremely intelligent man who thinks decisions through and likely has answers for LSU problems in. Other areas, but unless asked for input may not give it. If put into that position I believe he is intelligent enough to know whether he can do the job and if he even wants the job. I would have no problem with Aranda as our HC if O is let go. I do not want Aranda to leave, just because he isn’t like Saban doesn’t mean his style of coaching wouldn’t be just as successful. I have a idea he is just as smart about offense and has his unique style for how he handles players and his peers and Coach O and Aleva. I hate stereotyping people; this isn’t fair to him at all.

You can't seriously believe someone who has no experience as a coordinator and failed miserably at his only chance as HC is a better choice than a successful OC/DC.
This is some dumb arse "devil you know" think, and may as well get Hallman back.

My input means nothing but in all those years as DL coach, a lot of programs looking never offered him a DC job.
That's a lot of snubs, one program very sorry for ever hiring him as HC, and LSU likely regretting at this point.

Which Jimbo? The one who started off with top 3 team and went 5-6 or the national title winning Jimbo?
Posted on 12/30/17 at 6:17 pm to tigersquad89
Aranda would great Chris Petersen is quiet and awesome! Shrek/captain cave man or idiot O is not the answer. But let him fire Canada it’ll be his first death nail - hopefully Joe will follow close behind him or before. Joe is the major problem here!

We are talking who is more qualified to be a head coach. Only a moron would say someone who has NEVER been a head coach is more qualified than someone who hasn’t. How is that concept so hard for some of you? We are talking qualifications...tell me how a guy who has never done something more qualified than someone who has
The only reason O is more qualified, in your opinion, is that he was a head coach at Ole Miss then. Correct?

Interim stints at USC and LSU also

Experience doesn't mean shite if you're too bull headed to avoid making the same mistakes over and over.
There are HCs with one year of experience that are better coaches than O will ever be.
