That the LSU baseball team would make the Super Regionals...would you call the mental hotline or just shoot him, so he would be out of his misery!

Yesterday hurt y'all, but we went further than we probably had a right to.
The stupid mistakes and the poor coaching on top of pitching woes and sporadic hitting made our performance in the last third of our season a miracle, to say the least.

Yea being ranked number one to begin the year was hardly a free trip to the supers.

What about if they would have said in mid-Feburary that we wouldn't be close to a national seed but still host a super regional and then completely shite the bed at home?

When it was clear that being swept by UT was a not so good thing, I realized we were extremely overrated.

This team, however, WAS good enough to make it to Omaha. Just really poor decision making in the usual aspects.

This series against FSU was another great example: IF LSU hitters are patient at the plate (like FSU) they likely win both games. But they aren't. They will swing at ball four in the dirt almost every time. FSU didn't, and those walks resulted in wins.

Just one example of many. SOS, Different Year.

What if they said LSU would finish 5th in the SEC? Not win the SEC Tournament? Barely get a Regional? Get to host a Super ONLY because we backed into it? Lost the Super 0-2 to a team which was one of the last 4 in the Tournament? Going to lose to almost every in-state school? Get swept by a poor Texas team?

All this after being #1 at the beginning of the season (not just pre-season).

If someone said in March that no1. ranked LSU will never learn to play fundamental baseball this season, and will embarrass itself with base running errors and by occurring huge losses against teams in this state. He’d be banned forever from TD.

What if they also said we’d have major injuries to our pitching staff and players that we’d have to deal with the entire season. The fact that we hosted is a miracle based on the circumstances. I know y’all won’t care and will say that’s only excuses but it’s reality

Baseball underachieved this season and there’s no way anyone can deny that. You can blame coaching, injuries, or ineptitude by healthy players, but they did not meet expectations. They were extremely inconsistent all season which is a recipe to get burned.

This team was number 1 on potential only. We pitched two true freshman this weekend. Next year with better health and even deeper pitching we should go to Omaha. Yes, we lose smith, Watson, and duplantis on offense. However, Garza is healthy, Cabrera wrist will be 100%, doughty will be solid, and Hampton has speed and power.

Which is it.

This team was very good on paper and it just never translated to the field. Hosting a Super at home is not something I expected to happen during the regular season.
