I see your point. I was really thinking about a year where we had a very talented team and we came very close to winning the NC but didn't. I thought that if Rohan had played with that type of talent, he would have won the NC. I didn't list 2005 because we did not come as close. I wasn't trying to slam JR, but I see how it could come across that way.
My apologies.

The non-interference call, that was one of the worst passes I have ever seen. Doucet was ten yards behind the defender, and Russell underthrew him so badly that the defender had time to catch him and tackle him before Doucet could get back to the vicinity of the horribly underthrown ball. That would have been an easy touchdown for a Qb with any touch at all, however, it was a critical point in the game and Russell could not handle it, just like taking a sack 4 or so plays earlier with no timeouts left, and fumbling the ball at the 1 foot line along with 3 picks at Florida.

Yes, but the playcalling was pretty conservative at times. I think Jimbo was still developing Russell so he didn't give him full reigns. Valid point though.

Matt Mauck>>> Rohan.
sorry, but true

Right! And had Dalton Hillard and Gary James been our backs in 2005 we proabably would have taken the Crystal then as well. Same thing in 1987 had we only had Y.A. Tittel under center. Come on. What kind of claim is this?

IMO, JR was the least impressive black QB for LSU (except for the Notre Dame game in the Sugar Bowl). To me, the most impressive black QB for LSU was either Davey or Herb Tyler...
I'm pretty certain that Jordan Jefferson will also join Davey and Tyler as the most impressive black QBs for LSU.
Since he got booted, RP doesn't count, unfortunately.

If Rohan Had Been QB in 2006, We Win the NC...
Very doubtful with Jimbo...
Also understand this Josh Reed had a lot to do with Rohan's stats.
No one could cover Reed in 2001.

JR IS GOD. HE IS THE GREATEST QB IN LSU HISTORY!!!
Does that make you feel better?
P.S. JR was a disappointment.

Play calling and referees. Not QB play
both not good.
But QB not good either in that game. We win that game in spite of play calling and officiating with better QB play. THose of you who keep denying this simple fact are deluding yourselves for some reason.
Only after the Auburn game did JR start playing great QB. The first part of the season he was average at best.

BOOM !!!
I have been saying this since one second after the play. THE PLAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TD without any CHANCE of interference.
JR was just not accurate the whole season up to that point. He consistently overthrew/underthrew open receivers. And over the middle he set up our receivers for crunched rib on most plays. Instead of hitting them instride for chance for YAC, he made them stop and jump high to catch the ball - with a pissed off DB closing in for a big hit.
In my view, JR was NOT GOOD in the first half of that season. After Auburn, he became a much better QB and THEN started deserving some of the accolades that came his way.
But to say that he was GREAT that SEASON is pure bullshite.

That was the third game of the season. The two games before Auburn he was a combined 26-37 with 449 yards 5 tds and 0 ints, admittedly against two scrub teams but I don't know how that can be construed as average.

The part you are missing is JR had ZERO help from the running game in our 2 losses in 2006. He didnt play his best, absolutely not, but the running game was nonexistent.
Compare that to last season, where the running game was good in just about every game.

So, a 70% completion % is considered not accurate now?

Auburn was the 3rd game of the season.
It's hilarious how people continue to say all these things about JR and here is a perfect example where you didnt even know what you were talking about.
And I shouldn't say hilarious, it's really sad that people do that to a guy who was so great to our university.

But he wore that BAMA Boy chain, as a rantard that makes me mad.
