Baseball DOES NOT produce more revenue than men's basketball at LSU. The fiscal report was released a few weeks ago.

And that is with men's basketball ABSOLUTELY SUCKING HIND TIT, and baseball ROLLING.

I never said otherwise, only that baseball is held in higher regard because of what Skip did with titles.

What time frame did that fiscal report cover? Basketball only started sucking this year, and baseball underperformed last year, though I doubt baseball will outpace basketball in revenue except as an anomaly.

There probably aren't many d-1 schools, and CERTAINLY not any power 5s that have their baseball producing more revenue than men's basketball.

There aren't even many in the black, I would suspect.

I pray that Ole Miss does hire Wade just for entertainment value from the melt on the board.

Why would LSU want to hire Chris Beard?

2014-2015 Arkansas - Little Rock: 13-18; 8th (of 11 teams) in Sun Belt

2015-2016 Arkansas - Little Rock [Beard's first and only season there]: 30-5; 1st in Sun Belt; 12th seed in NCAA Tournament; Defeated (5) Purdue in first round.

Texas Tech basketball prior to Beard's hire:
90 years; 15 NCAA Tournament appearances; 5 appearances in the Sweet 16, never any further

Beard's second season at TTU: 27-10; 2nd in Big 12; Elite Eight

Beard's second season at TTU: 31-7; 1st in Big 12; National Championship game

Beard's second team at Texas (this season) is currently 22-7, 2nd in Big 12, ranked 8th, and projected to be a top 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Beard has been a HC at three D-1 programs. He's won big, quickly, at all three. John Brady said a few years ago ahead of an LSU v. Texas Tech game that he had the opportunity to attend one of Beard's practices and it was "the best run practice he'd ever seen" in his time in basketball.

There are NO "sure things" in coaching hires. However, given his track record Beard may be as close to one as there is. The guy has not, and will not be convicted of a crime related to his December arrest. He's going to be hired as a college HC again...likely very soon.

The puckering going on in the LSU AD office will supply your entertainment.

I'm not ready to go that far yet - and we've discussed this many times you and I Alt....I'm not happy at all with the coaching this year but I want MM to succeed.

More to your point though in a somewhat analogous comparison the Cubs hired a manager in 2014 Rick Renteria...yes I'm a Cubs fan. the Cubs went 73-89 that year.

Joe Madden comes available. Renteria was a likable enough guy but Joe was the right man at the right time, the Cubs canned Renteria after only one year and hire Madden....and won a world series two years later.

Should not matter. I would not support a woman beater as the head coach of any LSU team. Maybe some of you would.

As frustrating as this season may be, and even with as little hope that I have McMahon could turn things around quickly and ultimately build a tremendous LSU program, I don't necessarily think you fire him after one season...UNLESS...a tremendous option that wasn't available to you in March of 2022 is now available. That opportunity is there. I know this will come across as blasphemy, but I would even take Beard over Wade. That's just how good a coach I think Beard is.

LSU basketball has never been a consistent power. There was a ~15 years period where the program was consistently good, but just not quite consistently on championship level. IMO, THIS would be an opportunity to change that. An opportunity that probably won't be there next season. And an opportunity that may never come around again.

I completely understand the position of those who wouldn't like the hire (even though I disagree). But I really think hiring him could be akin to the Saban hire in football for LSU. Someone who takes a solid, but inconsistent program, to heights it has never been. Yes, there would be huge initial PR backlash. But NO fan would care if in 2, 3, 4 years LSU was selling out the PMAC and competing for championships.

The reality is the guy is going to coach again. Even if some don't like that. Just like Calipari when Memphis hired him. Just like Pearl, or Kelvin Sampson, or Rick Pitino, etc. Some AD will be bold...so why not us (LSU)?

Hey. That's fair. But I suspect virtually ALL of the LSU fans who would be morally opposed the the hire would be eagerly tuning in to the Final Four if Beard led LSU there.

It’s time to end the Mcmahon experiment. Woody has to admit he botched it.

not a single LSU fan would be mad at this. cut bait with mcmahon and hire beard and watch recruits follow. he'd have LSU winning in his first season as head coach.

The 2021-2022 fiscal report was released about a month ago. Basketball had a net revenue of 1.67 million (their highest since 2016-2017), and baseball had a net revenue of $85k.

If you go back a few years to the 2017-2018 fiscal year (Wade's first season), LSU baseball had a net revenue of $345k and basketball $292k.

It appears as if when LSU basketball is good, net revenues are ok. When LSU basketball isn't good, they don't produce more net revenue than the baseball team does in an average year. But our baseball revenues typically being in the black are one of like 3-4 in all of the NCAA

Watch next year's come out buttfluck.

It will represent this shite show of a basketball season we're having, and baseball will probably go to Omaha. I GUARANTEE men's basketball will still produce CONSIDERABLY more revenue than baseball. And no shite Sherlock, it's mostly due to the TV money, which college baseball will NEVER COME CLOSE TO because statistically (key word here homie), NOBODY cares about college baseball.
