It's almost Christmas and here I am hoping someone (the original poster) gets hit by a truck today.

When I saw the title of this thread I knew it had been started by a 2009 register before I even had to open it.

Methuselah, that's the most unintelligent statement I've ever heard. What is this highschool? Are you a "senior" and he's a "freshman" ? You can tell this because of when he/she decided to register a screen name on this site?

To everyone else: The post is actually some what legit. This is not a meaningless bowl game. If we lose to Penn State, with the Big 10's recent bowl record, that looks bad. Not to mention, if we lose to Penn State, how does this season really compare to last season? 5 loss to 4 loss... recruiting classes? This bowl game means a lot to a program that has failed once again to win its division, much less conference (despite the fact that Bama is in the NTG)

If the Capital One Bowl is a "meaningless bowl game" then get ready for a lot of meaningless bowl games to come.

Most Ranters would phrase it differently:

"If Miles coaches a lopsided victory over Penn State in the bowl game, does he get to stay?"

Sorry, Josh. Nobody gives a rat's arse about how you "feel." The fact is that the overwhelming number of sports fans in this nation view the Cap 1 as one of the premier bowls in the nation. That's the fact, Jack!

Truthfully, this game should do very little to help or hurt Les Miles. Bowl games are bonuses, rewards for a good season. Unless you are playing for the NC, or to remain undefeated, they really don't mean much. All teams react a bit differently to them, with the extraordinarily long layoff affecting kids differently. It would take another major f up by Miles to have any negative impact.

It will not do much to help or hurt Miles. He will be here next year, period. Idiots on message boards may feel otherwise, but those in power are not so rash or juvenile.

I disagree. It's another opportunity for Miles to prove himself on the field. Just wait...if LSU is losing go check out the scoreboard and see how many Miles supporters are screaming for his head. What if he has another Ole Miss brainfart? It could really hurt his career at LSU. If he leads us to another blowout...then he will win some of the negatigers back. It's an important bowl against repectable competition. Both teams have a lot to play for.

If LSU is dominant but mental errors keep happening, then Miles will look bad. If its a close game, and Miles blows it, then I can't really say what will happen. If PSU is just plain better, then its a wash and nothing changes. If LSU shows up with execution, discipline and attitude ...and wins a close game, its a huge plus for Miles.
If LSU.....well, you get the picture. Its just a bowl game, but it will be kind of like watching gymnastics, but where everyone watching will be the judges. Fair? Hell no. But that's what its come to. It is what it is.
