LSU will win if they can get the running game established early, and it wouldn't hurt to get a turnover or two. The defense will keep the team in the game, but there is no room for missed opportunities by the offense.

1. Alabama is just not that much better, and Tiger Stadium is the difference in otherwise evenly matched game.
2. Alabama is untested. They'll be shell shocked to look up in the 4th quarter, and find the score close, and won't know how to play in a game like that.
3. Mett finally "gets it", and the offense clicks.
4. Alabama makes mistakes/turns the ball over.

If we beat them, which of the above will be the biggest reason, iyho?

I'm really going w/2.

In every other thread you have predicted LSU is going to get "steam rolled" and blown out. I don't see why you think one defensive or ST TD would save the day here.

If I were Bama, I'd be concerned about injuries post-State, headed into the BR trip. LSU has two weeks to heal- and prepare.

Miss St wants this game badly...they have to be PO'd at the lack of respect many on the nat'l level are showing them- especially after the oddsmakers have tagged them a 24 point dog.

And I believe the LSU OL has vastly improved the last two weeks, without the benefit of a break. We'll see.

If it's a hard-hitting game (which I think it will be), this will be something to look at....

Combination of 1 and 3. I don't think Alabama will make mistakes. I think Tiger Stadium matters. The only loss at night the last 10 YEARS took a really, really good UF team with Tim Tebow and it was a close game into the 4th. I also think the offense is close to hitting a big play and I think Alabama secondary (particularly Deion Blue) is a good candidate for a double move. I also don't think Alabama is quite as stout up front as they have been in the past (i.e. no Terrance Cody) so I think we may be able to run the ball a little better than we did 01/09. Mix all this with the bye week and the mental side of things swinging back to our favor because of 01/09 and I just think we find a way to get it done. That stadium is magic when it gets going. Tigers win 21 - 17.

The Alabama buses couldn't find Tiger Stadium!

If we win it will be because of completing some 15-20 yard passes over the middle early on. Otherwise, the Bama linebackers will be too close to the line, and the run game breaks down.

Also, we saw the germ of an option attack this week using Ware in wildcat. I suspect we will see more of this against Alabama since option plays allowed us to move the ball last year at Tuscaloosa and were the difference in the game. It gives something to fall back on if the passing doesn't work out. It gives Alabama two attacks to worry about.

We will prevail.

Bama will have more turnovers and penalties. That is the only way. Our offense is terrible and we can't move the ball well against any other opponent so I doubt we learn how by next week. Our defense will keep it close though.

This, more than the other reasons. If I'm not mistaken Bama was behind once this year (7-6) to Ole Piss for 15 seconds before Bama returned a kickoff for a TD. We'll see what kind of character they really have if it's close late.
