Shepard is not just any true freshman. He's the #1 player in the Country and has stated repeatedly he wants the weight of the program on his shoulders. Give the kid a shot at least.

he has also said that he has to earn that spot in practice by beating out other players. he has stated that he knows that if he doesn't work hard, he could sit the bench for 4 years.

the scholarship, free education and all, is his shot. it's up to him to prove himself now, in practice and on the field.

Do you want a repeat of this season?

Fine, until he threw the first pick 6. I would expect Miles to pull him sooner and with less provocation if the interception trend continued.

If Lee starts next year it is because he is the best we have. If others step up in practice and prove to be better for the team they will win the starting position.

I feel that Les Miles will put the QB on the field that gives us the best chance to win. No one wants to win more than Miles.

do you want to compare their high school passing stats? What happens if they do what you say and Shep throws 10 picks in 5 games? Could that damage him?

Lee needs to pack up his dorm room after finals and transfer. Nothing against the kid personally but he will never see the field again. With JJs performance the last 6 quarters and RS coming in Jan. I doubt very seriously that Lee will ever see the field again. I am sure he is a great kid and has a great arm but he is not SEC QB material. He did not progesss any during the season and his decision making was horrific. He played Not to lose and you can not have your QB having that mentality.

You can make alot of statements about Lee, but this one was idiotic? How is taking chances throwing into coverage "playing not to lose"?

Do you want to compare speed in the 40 yd. dash. The college quarterback of today can beat you with his arm and his feet. One dimensional "pocket passers" are way too easy to defend. Lee is the old pro-style pocet passer, its not his fault that Shep is fast and accurate.

Yeah, it's easy to defend Jamarcus Russell, Sam Bradford, Matthew Stafford, Graham Harrell, and Chase Daniel.

Please show me where Shep is accurate on the college level?

goosefwd is 100% correct and brilliant. While I am at it, he should probably recommend our defensive coach!

___________

Why don't we give him some time to adapt to the game? I think it works better that way.

I would have no problem with it. Then I would come read what the Rantards here were saying and beat your wife in frustration.

I think Les would be the best judge of who should start.
