By recruiting professional athletes
So Golding will be suspended too? What about the other 2 schools that recruited Dae’Quan?

54. By recruiting professional athletes in contravention of the SEC’s longstanding principles and rules and reiterating their intent to add these players to their roster for the 2026-27 football season, Defendants forced the SEC to associate its competitions, its brand, its championships, and its media properties with conduct that the Conference has expressly, unanimously, and publicly rejected and repudiated since its inception. Defendants have forced the SEC to associate its athletic competitions and the conduct of the Conference with professional athletes over the express and unanimous objection of every member institution aside from LSU. Such forced association undermines the SEC’s identity and purpose and impairs the Conference’s ability to express the values it has publicly espoused. That's what was in the federal suit. That's likely what they will go after Kiffin for.

The players are being paid. They are professionals.

No, you stick Charlie Weiss Jr in there to fill Lanes spot for a couple game and this team wouldn’t miss a beat. Weiss Jr is a genius at scheming and adjustments like Lane. That’s why Weiss will most likely be a head coach somewhere very soon unfortunately. You just let Ed do the locker room pre game and halftime speeches.

But Lane isn’t getting suspended so this is all a moot point.

I’m no lawyer but I think that any lawyer could pick that line 54 apart if that’s the only reason they are trying go after LSU. You could argue what a “professional “ player is since the commissioner couldn’t give you an answer. Then once that is established, it could argue that it reads current as professional players, not former professional players (which the later is a stretch). Also can focus on this wasn’t an attempt to recruit professional players and only advice given to former players on options that only involved them as they were included in the new 5-5 ruling. He wasn’t calling Patrick Mahomes and Travis swift to sue the NCAA to return for a 5th year.

This whole thing is being painted in the media as a rouge coach pissing on the rules. All he did was the same as the other coaches did and saw the same thing. These guys by the ruling can return. They aren’t pro players as they aren’t on a roster or made a team. Call it a loop hike if you will but SEC seems to have no problem with other schools doing this
