yet, they didnt. its not like Dooley was their first, second or probably third choice.

I'm not sure how much better UT could do, honestly. They got what they deserved for firing Fulmer and hiring that douche Kiffin.

I just find it unfortunate that UT might have ended up with a diamond in the rough.

I agree.

I just wanted to discuss this hypothetical situation.

The way he carried himself during and after the LSU game really turned me off of Dooley for the time being. He didn't come across as a competitive disciplinarian that has a law degree, but a child that still can't control himself. He may very well right the ship, and what better time then when the East is as poor as it's ever been, but the guy needs to show a little humility from time to time. He could actually learn a few things from Miles.

do you seriously believe this?

A lot teams have just as many young guys as good, but have older players in front of them.

The only talent on our roster was brought in by Kiffin. Fulmer was literally bringing in OVC level talent in his final few years. The mistake was not firing him after 2005. However, we tried to hire a coach at the worst point our program's ever been in, two weeks before NSD. You can't tell me with a straight face that the search proved we can't do better. We are the second best program in the SEC All-Time, have great young talent, great facilities, and the largest recruiting budget in the nation.

He's seems to be a great man and great recruiter. I just look at the product he has put on the field the last 3 years. I'm sorry but the wins and losses just do'nt add up to all the talent we have.

Would you be happier if he was shitty recruiter, went 7-5 every year, and that was a good product given the shitty talent he brought in?

I will never understand this argument at all. I mean, everyone admits he is a great recruiter and then want to punish him because we have lots of talent.

ND is one of these traditional powers too, but fewer and fewer kids care about them as well.

Its easier to win at UF, Bama, UGA, and LSU than at UT because of natural recruiting grounds. All four programs have equal or better facilities to UT as well.

Best case scenario UT is 5th in the pecking order. I'm sorry i just dont buy UT as being able to bring in any coach they want. UT should have thought the firing of Fulmer through better, and not landed themselves in the spot they were in.

Yes, I would take him over Miles in a heartbeat.

This. Miles literally had to run to the UT lockerroom to get a postgame handshake from Dooley. I understand the emotion of what Dooley was going through, but he was the one who fcked that up. Give the man his due, he beat you.

Experience will do nothing but improve an already very talented bunch.

QB: Fr. Tyler Bray (1500 yds passing in 4 starts, 4*)

WR (ranked number WR class in the nation by Rivals if Ambles is removed from USC class):

Fr. Justin Hunter (2nd most talented Fr. WR behind Robert Woods)
Fr. Da'Rick Rogers (#2 WR by Rivals, played sparingly due to depth)
Fr. Ted Meline (Rivals 250 4*, Redshirt)

Offensive Line
Fr. Tackle JaWuan James (12 starts, 4* UA AA)
RSFr. Guard JerQuari Schofield (6 starts)
Fr. Center James Stone (8 starts, 4* UA AA)
Fr. Guard Zach Fulton (called "best of the bunch" by OL coach who coached his brother Xavier, an NFL OG)

I will take that mix of experience and talent in 2 years over anyone in the nation.

Then put the damn talent and product on the field. I will never understand how some fan are satisfied with the shitty product he puts on the field with all this talent. What i want is to have the product on the field equal to our talent level. I feel his coaching is bringing our talent level down. I'm not saying fire him but if he can't do this then find someone who can.

How do you figure that? Is there a stat somewhere? Because Okie St and Texas basically have unlimited funds.

You are talking out of your arse if you are saying UGA and UF's facilities are on par with where Tennessee is facility wise, especially with our new practice facility.

unless your shelling out like camgate then the budget doesnt mean a lot. the budget is there so UT can manage to fly all over the damn country. you still have to convince kids to leave their in state school to come to UT.

I just did a quick google search and this was the first result, dated 07. I'll try to find the 2010 result that someone posted on our board this summer, but I'm positive we were still number one.

quote:

Four of the top eight schools, in terms of combined dollars spent on recruiting for all sports, are in the SEC. Tennessee ranked No. 1, spending more than $2 million during the 2006-07 school year. The Vols invested $915,000 on recruiting in 1997. Notre Dame is No. 2 ($1,758,300), followed by Florida ($1,451,400). The Gators’ bill was $665,500 for recruiting a decade ago. Other SEC schools paying out big on the recruiting circuit include: Auburn ($1,374,900) in fourth-place nationally, Georgia came in sixth ($1,284,000) and Arkansas was eighth ($1,259,700) in total money taken from the budget for recruiting during the 2006-07 school year.

I don't know why schools like Texas would need to spend that much since they rarely leave the state.

That is A LOT different than dollars available to spend.

UT HAS to pay more to recruit. Other schools don't have to waste as much money because they aren't in bumfrick Tennessee.
