Judging Crowton by what Lee and Jefferson did the past couple of years is just plain stupid.
Blaming everything on the QB is just plain stupid. It's deeper than that. There was nothing positive about LSU's offense all season long. Nothing. The O-line, receivers, running game, everything was absolutely awful. That's not the players, that's coaching.

Yep.
I remember 11 years ago people defending Tepper. Same thing is happening now with Crowton. It's not going to end well for Crowton either.

Somebody told me the best HS coach they had ever been around couldnt win more than couple games a yr.
I said why?
He said b/c he avg 13 players, his oline avg a buck fifty which was also his Dline, his qb and rb swapped every other play.
His point was that coaches are obv important but at the end of the day the players are the ones who either get it done or not.

The important thing is to place responsibility where it's due.
That includes any player, the referees, the field conditions, etc. Those are statics. The starting players haven't changed from year to year, JL's & JJ's initials are so similar they don't count. We always have the same referees that just flat out hate LSU. Throw in the fact the LSU has to play in terrible conditions every game while the opposing team is allowed to play on a different field is a travesty.
These are the constants.

That's a HUGE part of the problem. It's just sufficient to win. I want more than just sufficient. I want a killer instinct similar to what I've seen from Meyer and Saban. We had "just sufficient" against Tech, Tulane, Miss. State, and the others as well
Oh no doubt. I agree 100%.

quote:Miles is too renowned as a recruiter - it's basically the only thing he does - and a former OL himself to possibly blame LSU's issues on the offensive line. This must be the changing argument thing. Les Miles, great recruiter. Les Miles, no talent on offensive line. Perfect sense.

What does Les Miles do again?
Recruit?
Coach offense?
Coach offensive line?
Coach defense?
Game preparation?
Motivation?
Game management?
Besides your just blind faith in him, please tell me what he does. If it is recruiting, then stop with the bullshite about OL and DL talent, because that would be on Miles. If he does anything else, I'd love to see how you think he's even remotely good at it. Thanks.

There is no such thing as a dominant gameplan with zero running game and an OL that can not consistently pass protect.

Well, that would be the fault of which coach again? Saban developed his lines to get them to where they are. Crowton & Miles are being given excuses.

He makes descisons like hiring John Chavis.
Like firing Malveto
Like Hiring Pelini
Like Hiring F Wilson and Gonzales
and Brick Haley.
He kicks infections off the team like RP even though its gonna hurt our offense til another qb is ready.
That enough?

Wow. Some of those are really questionable decisions, (Brick Haley), or recent and unproven at LSU, (Wilson and Gonzales). Miles makes about 4 mil a year, and this is your list of his accomplishments? Firing Malveto? Seriously? He had to be poked and prodded to do that.

The gameplan against Penn St was probably good, but lets not forget the conditions made them change.
Jefferson needs to have better feet, his are terrible. He also needs to probably taken into a dart room and start throwing darts, his motion is too long.
As for Sheppard, I am not sure what he is yet, I am not sure he can play QB at SEC level, but I am also sure he could run some option.

You forgot playing the best players, oh wait, nevermind.

and Brick Haley.

Excellent points.

With a month to prepare for the Penn State game our offense turned in one of it's worst performances of the season. Can anyone point to anything that can give me hope that Crowton can improve offense going into next year?
.......on the positive side it can't look much worse then it did this season.
Posted on 1/3/10 at 10:01 pm to TenTex
Crowton is one major part of the scenario.
We must also get better at QB. We cant use the same old excuse of being young. This will be the third season he has played in. Time management must be mastered by players and coaches. We can do better on the field and the sideline.
I expect the offense to be better next season, if for no other reason than it was terrible this season and it cant hardly get worse.

yep, he had the want to do it, but it took him, uh, uh too much time.

Plus who knows how good the offense is with the top rb playing a whole season. When you are down to your 4th TB you have to adjust. LSU talent level didnt allow for that. There was a reason Ridley was so far down on depth chart. You dont replace RB's QB's or whatever without making some major changes.

what is your point here?
Unlike you I dont pretend to know what goes on behind the scenes with LSU football coaching.
I dont understand what answer you are looking for.
quote:
Okay. Why is that?
Why is not the point, a change needed to be made and he made it.
quote:
You mean forced to hire them because one was paying players? and is still on LSU's payroll? Excellent.
he wasnt FORCED to hire shite..
and as far Mcarthy goes you nor I know the whole story behind that... yeah LM really has the rep of defending actions/coaches that could potentially bring everything down.

Maybe we could get Pete to come back then???... one would think that hiring a pro coach from CHicago Bears would be a plus.. just a thought.

As if LM didnt know what not having RP would most likely mean,,, Its a tough decision he made that was for the better of the team.
