We still need to throw better on intermediate routes even if those two wrinkles help our offense. Harris will get his shot in the spring and next year. Has to outwork Jennings and show he wants it

and as painful as our QB play has been this year, Harris may end up better for it.

I'd like Harris to run that as well.

Harris would improve the short passing game as well.

How many times did we see Twins to one side of the field out of a 21 package and have Mett read the defense pre-snap and make the decision to either run the ball, or stand up and throw it out wide to Beckham with Landry blocking?

We saw zilch of that this year.

Get Harris into the lineup next year, get a big body like Chi out wide blocking for either Dural or Tyron Johnson.

Hell, just those plays would improve the offense.

Harris is significantly quicker than harris. I think it is something that we need to incorporate into our offense.
Hard to argue with this.

no more posting videos of harris running a play. you're ruining all the people's narrative that harris doesn't know the playbook.

It's not that he doesn't know the playbook. The stage was little too big for him this year. He has 8 months to get it together.

True, the "playbook" excuse was a diversion.

As for the stage being too big - maybe that was partially true at Auburn. But the entire team wet the bed there. It's unfair to give Harris the starting nod on the road, early in the season, at Auburn and then bench him the rest of the year.

Hell, JT Barrett at Ohio State looked terrible early on when he replaced Braxton Miller, but he improved drastically the rest of the year. I'm convinced Harris would've done the same. But he didn't get the chance.

Just like welter and beckwith

EXACTLY.

Once Beckwith overtook Welter, he became the starter. The same will happen at the QB position.

Something neither current LSU QB is particularly adept at in this point in their careers.

But then they haven't been playing college ball for very long either whereas Mett was a senior.

There's a ton of evidence showing your philosophy doesn't work, and it's getting worse. For the most part, everyone around you is doing something different. When does it finally click?
It doesn't click. Massive Ego AND Stubbornness will not allow it to click. DiNardo didn't allow it to click and it eventually got him fired. The same thing will happen to Lester if he doesn't adapt and rethink his philosophy.

We do know one thing, he's not winning any SEC West or SEC Championships without a Passing Game. He'll either adapt, change and fix the problem or he'll be gone...

Harris might be quicker and more athletic, but he definitely looked on the scrawny side compared to Jennings this season. If we do intend on using a running QB in the offense (pretty sure that is part of Cameron's old scheme with Atwaan Randle El), the QB is going to have to take a lot of hits. I'd say Harris wasn't physically ready for that this season, and you'd risk a major injury throwing him in too soon.

Google tells me ...

Well, it actually brings me back to TigerDroppings. Albeit with a pretty interesting 2013 recruiting thread. LINK

If that's accurate they have the same 40 time.

thanks for that link...funny to read all glowing things about Jennings last yr; unlike this yr when he has been roasted over a spigot all yr

He did have several botched plays early on. However, being a spread guy, he likely was having a hard time adjusting to going under center the majority of the time. That is a big adjustment, and a lot of spread QBs struggle with it if they go into a more traditional system.

I think another issue that definitely worked against Harris after the Auburn game was that we got back into the West race. Instead of throwing Harris out there and letting him take his lumps, it seems to me that the staff decided to play for today, rather than tomorrow. Since we ended up dropping 2 more games, I'll be honest. Not playing Harris was a missed opportunity.

Hopefully we will see the young man in the bowl game. If we do, and continue to see more balanced play calling (like in the A&M game), it will be cause for a little more hope around here.
