re: If Cam were doing poorly, what kind of things would we hear?

I would say that things are going very well indeed and we may be ahead of what was expected.
Feel better now .

I am actually happy about the hire and what I am hearing about the Spring.
I hate to say it will take time to prove itself out but it will. I went to last years Spring Game and Mett looked like a pro out there. About the only thing that I saw last Spring that proved to be an omen was Jeremy Hill looked very good.
The good news Ive heard is that the DLine is looking better than expected and the CB's seem to be doing well. The big mystery right now is how do we replace Minter.
One other note regarding time. We have 20 more guys coming in this summer and several will see the field...

If he had came in here with a sense of entitlement or a "this is beneath him" attitude, U still wouldnt hear anything but optimism. If his system is too complicated for these guys, u would be hearing things like its a great system, it will just take time to learn an entire new offense etc...
Its just too early to grade the OC. I know this isnt what u wanted to hear but to grade him today would be like grading John Diarse or any other new player before the fall practice preseason gets near its end.
It will not be all pretty and rosey. Cam will have his work cut out for him and his leadership and team building skills will be tested and questioned.
But from my point of view, it was a terrific hire and both Miles and the AD should be commended. We needed a change on offense, and this guy looks like he was one of the best candidates in America that we could actually get in here.

1- we'd hear a lot more on how the new D-line was stepping up and we won't miss Mingo and Montgomery
2- might be an in-depth article stating the new offense is a complicated pro scheme which is very different than prior offenses, and the players are adjusting; some positions might be highlighted: "look for our TE's to step up", etc.
3- we'd hear more about how the O-line is busy absorbing a new blocking scheme and feel they'll be ready for the fall.
I think we wouldn't hear about the players we already know (Mett, Landry, Beckham, Hill), but instead the progress of newcomers on defense.

This thread is a prime example of the Rant searching for a problem where there is none.

Alatiger,
So you ask a question and then you answer your own question 9 posts later? Really?
WTF was your point? You're the guy who asks a question and when someone answers you tell them they are wrong.
Why didn't your original post just say you were excited bc you weren't hearing those things you posted 9 posts down? Maybe bc you wanted to wait and show everyone how smart you are. Teach me more, please!

Of course, I had my own opinions. I honestly wanted to see what others thought as well. When people thought I was a Negatiger or bashing the Offense/Cameron, I gave examples to demonstrate what I meant.
In reality, I honestly think that things are going well and that if they were not, we would be hearing a different form of "coach speak" from what we are hearing. I could have stated that declaratively, I guess, but I thought I would put it out in the form of a question to see what others thought.
Not trying to be smart, but I don't know what is appealing about acting dumb.

Mettenberrger is my only concern he seems a little out of sorts in the interview when asked. Can't remember his exact words but he seemed ticked off about having to learn a whole new offense for his 3rd straight year.
