re: If Cam is ruled ineligible, do pollsters see LSU as undefeated?

IF Cam was ruled ineligible, we WOULD have a chance to earn our way into the NC game.
We'd have to win out (Ole Miss, Arky, and probably FL in the SECCG)...if we won these games, we'd make it to the NC...IMO of course.

God, I hope so. It's a lot better than pinning your national title hopes on UGA Saturday.

The black eye that this fiasco will give the SEC will all but make it impossible for LSU to get a shot at the BCSNC.
Don't forget the BCS and college football are all about money. An SEC team in the BCS championship brings the most eyeballs. It doesn't have to happen this way, but ratings/money is a big factor.

A lot of people are saying this. I don't see how it hurts the conference.

Agreed. I heard long before this story broke that Newton brought the same offer to LSU, but they turned it away in a hurry. Obviously I could not post that on here without a link, but when this story broke, I was only surprised with how long it took. Anyways, LSU is in the clear, and the conference will be fine unless 2/3rds of the teams offered him money. Then the conference is doomed. On the bright side, LSU would be a lock for the Sugar Bowl each year

bullshite, Auburn would drop immediately. And the NCAA could make them forfeit if the find ANY kind of smoking gun.
Please realize everyone that is on the hook for this one...SEC, Slyve, Miss St, Auburn, FLA, the NCAA and every individual involved!
Dudes dad said basically NO COMMENT. CAn you imagine what you would say if all of this wasn't true and they were berating your child? He would be screaming at the top of his lungs to protect his son and his innocence.
This is about over and all we need to pray for is a forfeiture ruling from the NCAA. Some of these stories are true, its just a matter of (very short) time.

It has nothing to do with pollsters. Nada. Zip.
LSU has to get to the SECCG and win it. There only two ways that will happen:
* AU loses twice and LSU wins out (thus LSU goes to the SECCG)
OR
* AU's wins are vacated before the SECCG and LSU wins out (thus LSU goes to the SECCG)
AU's wins getting vacated in this short period of time are essentially zero, so the only realistic path is AU losing twice and LSU winning out.
Why is this the case? Because if neither possibility happens, AU will go to the SECCG and more than likely easily beat SC or FL. A one loss team from the SEC gets a pass only if it wins the SECCG, otherwise some other team will go. Just ask GA.

If we win out and AUburn still goes to the SECCG, they could get hit with sanctions then, making them ineligable for teh NC which could open a spot for a pwer one-loss team with a grass eating caoch! TI is possible with a loss by Oregon. book it

Does anyone think they will drop the hammer swiftly to keep AU from blowin up the whole college football world by winning the NC. I would think they would want to avoid the whole 2004 USC result.
I do find the whole idea of him getting benched now as bullshite if we still recieve an loss for our record. There is basically no way we would have lost to Newtonless AU. UGA and Bama would coastto wins over an Auburn squad without Newton.
That would actually keep Bama in the SEC title race.

Really? Exactly how? LSU's AU loss gets vacated and the Gumps already have two SEC W losses. Even if LSU lost to both Arky & Ole Piss, LSU would win any tie-breaker with the Gumps.
A two loss LSU would go to the SECCG and a two-loss AL goes nowhere.

Bama wins out
Arky wins out
LSU beats Ole Miss, but losses to Arky
Bama represents the west due to winning a 4 or 3 team tie breaker.
This could happen if AU is ruled ineligible or losses their last two SEC games. AU will beat UGA if Newton can play.

What about this scenario--- LSU wins out, Auburn loses to Alabama but still plays in SECCG and loses to Fla. LSU would have another win against a top caliber team in Arky (maybe even a top ten Arky). That could move us up in the computer poles to #2. Then all we have to have happen is for the media to jump on the bandwagon of "Must see TV of Les Miles. It happened for us once before and we would be from the #1 conference.

No.
Accepting that your scenario eliminates AU through some combination of events and there are multiple teams with identical records, the 1st tie-breaker is head-to-head among the teams.:
* Bama has a loss to both LSU & Arky, therefore wins no tie-breakers vs two loss LSU and Arky.
* Arky with a win over LSU wins that tie-breaker.
Arky would go to the SECCG.
Come up with another scenario if you can.

No, it didn't. The LSU love came because LSU won the SECCG, the championship of the #1 conference. AU losing in the SECCG doesn't get LSU love from being the best SEC team that didn't lose the SECCG.

Arky would go to the SECCG.
Bama lost to USC and LSU
If AU loses their next two SEC games, LSU only loses to Arky, Bama wins out, Arky wins out that would send Bama to the SECCG.
- In this scenario AU and Bama come out of the tie breaker due to one of their losses coming out of the east. Bama thens breaks the tie breaker because of the head to head win over AU.
If AU were to be ruled ineligible it would be the same result as Bama would have the better division record in the LSU-Arky-Bama tie.

It was said that a one loss Alabama could jump the undefeated non-AQs.
Because a one-loss Bama would presumably be the SEC champ.
LSU does not have control over that.
