The sad thing is that while the post WAS a joke, there are those out there who feel EXACTLY the way the joke portrays it. I watched in amazement about 8 years ago as a group of families who had arrived VERY early on gameday had set up and were cooking hamburgers and hot dogs for the kids and were drinking from a keg were set upon by a couple of Escalade loads of idiots who were telling them to "move your Wal Mart crap out of OUR tailgating spot. We are TAF and that means WE run this show." I was on the other side of them with a couple of friends from New Orleans and watched as these idiots kept on and on and tried to threaten these folks. They were very luck not to have gotten their teeth kicked in by the VERY upset dads. I advised them to move to another spot because I had called the cops to handle things. These nimrods had the brass to stay and try to buffalo the cops. It ended with one of the Escaladers screaming that he was so and so's oldest kid and that this was THEIR spot and the cop would have hell to pay if he didn't make the families leave. Well so and so's oldest got his obnoxious arse thrown into the back of the cop car in handcuffs. That shut the other pieces of shite up very quickly.
It is that kind of attitude that will eventually drive families away from Tiger Stadium and when that happens, my money will go away from TAF. I have spoken to General Richard about the rank classism that is coming from some members of TAF and he says that the actions of some should not tarnish everyone else. I told him that it is getting to be the actions of many and that an ugly incident will happen unless some of our younger, thinking they are entitled membership, is not slapped down hard for such behavior.
