Looks like Watford is this year’s winner of the honorary Aundre Hyatt “this guy is gonna shoot 40% from 3, no cap” award

quote:

"Penn is gonna affect more shots than he blocks, very cerebral player, very smart player," Wade said. "He understands our philosophy and he's used to playing a matchup zone, he's used to playing in a zone. Penn has an advanced understanding of what we're doing which has helped him adjust quickly."

quote:

Jalen Cook might be the best on-ball defender I've seen since I was at VCU and we had Briante Webber, who's the second all-time NCAA steals leader," Wade said. "Cook is as good as I've seen at hounding the ball and guarding the ball."

quote:

Thomas is one of the best scorers he's seen at the high school level in all of his years recruiting. Wade said it's gotten to the point in practice where if Thomas shoots the ball and it doesn't go in, it's a disappointing result.

quote:

Remember the shots that Tremont [Waters] used to hit? Those are the kind of shots he can make while he's getting fouled. He's the real deal. As soon as the ball leaves his hand you think it's going in. The part I'm excited about is he gets fouled, he's a 90 plus percent free throw shooter, he's able to get in the paint and score a lot of different ways

quote:

On the floor, Wade says Watford is shooting the ball extremely well and has the capability to shoot 38-40% from three, which would open up the driving lanes. "Trendon's done a phenomenal job, the first thing is just leadership. He's more vocal leading, he's talking to guys and has a great way about him," Wade said. "He's playing a lot more physical, whether it be posting up or rebounding and the area that fans will be excited about is he's shooting the ball really well."

Baws, announce final four.

If we go to the tournament this year, it'd be the 1st time since Dale Brown that we went to the big dance for 3 straight years. that's 27 years since we've done that.

For as good as they've been offensively under Wade (and they've been great), the inability to shoot well from 3 is strange. Even stranger is the fact that when they do shoot well from 3 it seems to occur on the road rather than at home. My only conclusion is that the sightlines in the PMAC must suck and the transition from shooting in the practice facility to shooting in the PMAC throws them off.

The fact that hes touting one guy as a great defender means he will start I bet

Maybe with him and penn wwe can be decent on d ,at least. We have always been great on offense under wade. Last years team was especially bad on d . As far as I can remember, someone help me here,am I remembering correctly? Wasnt our d the worst we've had in a while?

Hopefully Smart shoots better at home this season. Need Lester Earl to pull up his H vs A stats but he seemed to shoot a lot better away from home.

I don't mean to be a debbie downer but did we actually make it to the dance last year? IIRC, we never got far enough in the season for them to actually select anyone for the tournament.

Probably would’ve been a 9 seed or thereabouts

I def agree but can we claim 3 years in a row if there wasn't an actual tournament. Seems very Bama claiming national titles in football like to me.

Sure we can

Not even close

I can’t think of any tournament streaks off the top of my head, but do you think Coach K’s tournament streak ended last year?

We were a projected 7/8 seed going into conference tournaments - I'm counting it

Didn't WW say at the beginning of last season that one of his players (can't remember who) would be an absolutely incredible offensive player last season? Sadly, whoever that player is/was, turned out to be a jonathan giles clone.

Looked it up, Javonte shot a whopping 23% (14/60) from deep at home last year compared to 44% (28/63) on the road. So despite playing six less road games than home games last year, Javonte managed to shoot more threes and nearly doubled his home 3PFG%. It’s gotta be the sight lines. Gotta get that shite fixed. Javonte did shoot much better from 2 at home than on the road though. 52% at home to 46% on the road.
