He is already a national champion. Already a 1st team All-American and would have been drafted higher than Okudah if eligible this year. If he was a basketball player he would be signed to make millions right now. But he has to stay in college for two more years and again watch DBs he is better than get their money next year. Obviously we all think playing in the P&G is a good thing and I'm sure he enjoys it as well but I do wonder if he is somewhat regretting the 3 year NFL rule right now. Definitely hope he invests in a nice insurance policy the next two seasons to protect himself.

EDIT: I still cant help but find it hilarious that we live a capitalist society where everyone is allowed to look for the biggest profit possible but athletes are supposed to be like "Yeah frick money. I just want to risk breaking my neck every week for pure fun." That sounds like some crazy SJW stuff to me just saying...

I'm sure the rookie scale will be higher so he will probably make more. But I learned in my Federal Income Tax class about something called the "Time Value of Money" and how acquiring revenue now is almost always preferable to deferring it to the future.

If so, he should be mad at his future teammates in the NFL. The players union is who approved this rule.

And he doesn’t have to play college football. He can sit out and train, he could play Canadian football, he could play arena football.

There is nothing keeping him in college football other than his own choices.

Best DB in America coming off a national championship season and his GF is smoking hot.... yeah he’s probably punching the air right about now!

What kind of post is this?!

I mean all that could still be true and he could be a millionaire right now if the NFL had the NBA rules

Doesn’t work that way unfortunately. But he will conceivably be worth more in two years.

I guess you could say I paid. Part of it is loans and the other part is scholarship.

He may have gone in the first round, but that's just fan speculation. Most likely I think he would've taken Henderson's spot and not Okudah's. Okudah is just a) more of a known quantity and b) more polished as a corner. The expected difference between their contracts are $13 million with the number three making 33 million and the number nine making 20 million. Your tax class could be talking about inflation, but that would need to be more than 50% inflation in the next two years which hasn't happened since the early 1900s due to the world wars. So unless you are expecting wartime production in the next couple of years, it's better for Stingley to stay at least for one more year.

Technically it's not their money until they sign on the dotted line.

Different sport. Football is a violent contact sport. There are a fair amount of 18-year-olds ready for the NBA. Occasionally you have a Stingley that is potentially ready for the NFL. But that is virtually nonexistent.

I think scouts would take into account that Stingley is two years younger than Okudah and I also believe Stingley would've tested better than Okudah particularly in the 40 and he probably would have still gone before Okudah. Also here is a link explaining the Time Value of Money concept more for those interested.

Lol at the people who think it is outrageous to ask if a kid who could be a millionaire right now would prefer that instead of having to be an unpaid college student for two more years especially given the fact that he has accomplished more than 99% of CFB players ever will already.
