I wonder if Hayden Rettig regrets leaving!

With the play of the QB's this year, you would think that he would have had a chance in some game. How bad could he have been if he thought he had to transfer and wouldn't play?

I believe he is at Rutgers Univ. here in NJ. I read a story in a periodical not that long ago about him. He had to sit out a year, but will play next season. He loved his time at LSU and still expressed love for the program. Said something like the coaches wanted to go in a different direction with the QB position, referring to mobile QBs.

LSU is nolonger playing his style of play. his regrets are probable thatLSU is pursuing dual thrat attacks new.

zero chance Les would give him a legit shot. Les wants a running QB. Only when it was absolutely evident that Mett had to be the guy would he do otherwise. Hayden did the right thing to bolt when he did. I say this as a fact, not as a preference. If he were here, clearly he would be a better option.

Hayden Rettig should be our starter right now. He had put sufficient time in the system to be able to handle it. He has an incredible arm. But oh wait, he's not a "mobile quarterback" or whatever it is Miles is looking for. So he packed his bags and went somehwere that would welcome his talents. Terrible job by the coaching staff on that one

I doubt it. He wouldn't have played unless there were no option. He did what was best for him.

Hayden Rettig wouldn't be sniffing the field this year.

I remember watching some of his highlights in high school and was pretty unimpressed. I wish our QB recruiting was on the level of recruiting for nearly every other position on our team

In general, yes, we've struggled to recruit and develop QB's. But lest we forget how much Mett improved in just one offseason with Cameron. Let's not close the book on Harris and Jennings just yet. They're both quite young and inexperienced.

They both can and will get much better,,, BUT some typical LSU fans want INSTANT results. Sad,......,

He left because he couldn't beat out Jennings, and he knew Harris was talented enough to beat him out as well. He saw the writing on the wall. That's as bad as what Rivers' dad said about changing the style of QB. Making up an excuse as to why you can't beat out the guy in front of you is just that, an excuse. Why did Randall leave in 2013? Why did Bolden switch to WR himself, then leave to go play QB at some small school? Every QB that has transferred or gotten kicked out from LSU, has done absolutely nothing anywhere else.
Cam is the guy going to evaluate these QBs. Look on a recruiting site and look at some of the highlights of the kids he's recruiting. I saw nothing from Rettig in high school, and nothing from him at LSU practices, that showed me that he is any better than what we have at the moment. Cam wasn't here then, and didnt evaluate Rettig. I do see guys like 2016 Feliepe Franks who is a mobile pocket passer and 2016 Sean Patterson, who is a dual threat with great accuracy. Those are some of the guys that Cam is high on. Both of those are 5 star type QBs, and we could realistically get both.
I wish people would let these guys grow before acting like the world is ending because some kid that transferred.

Fwiw Russell Sheppard was a mobile qb that didn't see time and he is in the nfl now as a receiver. On the other hand, Dak Prescott would be our fullback.

Ironically he is rooming with an Australian punter at Rutgers after rooming with one here. Not sure what to make of that... Once you go down under, etc?
