Of course but what I sense is that he’s working the market without honest intent.
Lane wants to stay in Oxford and this is window dressing to get them to ante up.

He isn't being dishonest about shite, imo. He's sitting back and listening, and telling those interested what the baseline offer is from OM.
This execution of plans has been in place forever, making sure lane doesnt have to do or say a thing.
If it gets into serious territory, he'll give a set of non negotiable terms, that if not met, Lane wont talk.
Money and negotiable will be set, hard, before Lane even acknowledges talks are ongoing.
Agents have no reason to be "honest" or give any info....other than to prove they are instructed to listen

How can he look these players in the eye if he intends to leave after the season they’ve had
Man, some of yall are in the past and I'm not sure if you're ever leaving.
There is such a small percentage of people under the age of 40 that give a frick about institutions anymore. He can look those players in the eye because they are all on the same page. None of them are going to fault him if he leaves. These kids aren't playing for the glory of the school anymore for the most part. They would all also jump ship if someone offered a bigger pile of cash.
And there's nothing wrong with that. This isn't your family. It's a school paying you to play ball. It's a school paying you to coach a football team.
The world has changed.

And the ideal time to announce is right before or during the first round of playoff games.
LSU gets some press even though we are not in the playoffs.
While causing Ole Miss maximum distraction for the playoffs.

The country’s best head coach may be a stretch. LOL

Country's best head coach?....you gotta be kidding......lmao.

If he walks away from a team going into the playoffs, don’t think he won’t do it again if Bama or Texas or the NFL comes calling.

I think it’s clear that we’re in the hunt for lane and have a substantial offer on the table. I think Florida does too.
You think we have an offer on the table to a sitting head coach in the college football playoff spotlight?

I like your profile picture. From the wording to the rig. Perfection.

Yes but not all players have that ability
And as a fan, we root for players who stay with the team and become a part of the fabric of the TEAM and thus the school.
Enjoy rooting for mercenaries.

Even the worst player on a team like LSU has mercenary in them. Just because they might like LSU doesn’t mean they don’t have a number.
I’m sure there might be a handful of guys like that across the nation. You want to root for non-mercenaries maybe you should switch to McNeese. I say that fully loving the McNeese program.

I root for LSU whether or not they have mercenaries but I don’t want a team built on mercenaries. At LSU particularly, I want homegrown talent to have a place to play football for a great coach who can develop talent to progress to NFL level. Players who want to be there because they love LSU. Their family comes to watch them.
Coaches that build on the portal risk losing that kind of culture.
In Louisiana, we have talent. With the right coach, that talent stays in state and we don’t have to rely on portal. Kiffin has to rely moreso on portal in Mississippi than he would here. He knows that.
This is why we shouldn’t have to beg
