It was never close. Nuss had to give up his #5 when JD transferred. BK promised the starting job to him and couldn't back out. We are stuck with BK love child. He is not different than Les' love child, JJ.

We got blown out! We should've at least given Nuss the 4th qtr...if only to preserve JD from injury. This game was over once Tennessee scored 20, no way JD was leading us to 3 td's.

I don’t think that Nussmeier is necessarily worse than Daniels, I think that he’s different. Daniels is the better, more conservative option if the defense is locking down the opposing offense and the run game is effective. Nussmeier might be the better option if the defense is yielding a ton of points and the run game is ineffective, and you need your QB to take more chances and get yardage in bigger chunks.

Welcome to college sports. No college coach is going to say "it wasn't close. One's a turnover machine with zero mobility, and the other is a okay to mid level passer with great mobility... so we'll go with the guy who can at least take off".

Every opportunity Nuss has had, he’s looked absolutely horrific.

That's fine and may be accurate. OP was questioning why no Nuss based on Kelly's comments that the QB race was neck and neck. To my knowledge, Kelly has not come out and said Daniels is clearly better. Just that he gives us the best chance to win. Not a ringing endorsement for your starter or the fact the race was neck and neck.

Spoiler alert, Nuss stinks. He'd have buried us in an even deeper hole.

Brings me no pleasure to report that Daniels is the best we have.

Don’t forget, man. We started a wide receiver at QB in our bowl game last year. We’ve been in very dire straits.

And the results were eerily similar.
Except… Kirklin threw the ball downfield.

Maybe, but I don’t agree with coach Kelly that Daniels played better than the rest of the offense today.

If it was such a “close QB race” why not give nuss a chance to make something happen. Especially when it was obvious to everyone in the stadium that #5 was not going to get it done.

What have ANY of you seen from Nuss that suggests he is better than Daniels? His decision making is horrible at this point in his career. He is a loose canon. If he was better than Daniels he would be on the field.

The problems with this offense begin and end with the OL right now. We cannot establish the run and the QB has no time more often than not to get a pass off.

You people have got to give this time. It is not going to happen overnight. I know everyone is pissed right now but this team was never going to challenge for the SEC West this year. LSU fans wanted to fire Saban his first year too.

Not at LSU. Our offense is much too complicated for youngsters to grasp. Must be at least a Jr to see any meaningful playing time.

Against one of the worst pass defenses in the county?

Well, he will sling it, and that’s a start.

Otherwise, he sits the bench.

When you are down 4 TD with 3 minutes left and still have JD running the normal offense you are either trying to stat pad for JD or just gave up on Nuss.

Either way the QB1 could have gotten hurt taking meaningless snoas trying to prove a point

CBK has said several times since fall camp that they are very different quarterbacks and we better at two different types of offenses. With broken hands, butter fingers, and slow routes, perhaps he chose the quarterback with the best ball security, or best styled for the entire cast of the offense.
