I am not one in favor of giving Crowton anymore time to prove himself capable of managing the offense at LSU. The fact LSU ranks 106th in the country is absurd... After 3 years of steady offensive regression, I have seen enough to know a change is warranted.
It seems like we have taken one step forward (Chavis) and two steps back (Crowton). A signature Miles coaching trait? I'm starting to think so. Makes me wonder what will spring a massive leak next season under this kind of coaching leadership...

Crowton should leave at the end of this season for one of two reasons.

1. The Head Coach asks him to leave.
2. He leaves because he can no longer take being shackled by the Head Coach.

La Tech is supposedly less physical and less talented than LSU. Yet, they were able to put up significant yardage against LSU through creative play calling.

It seems we are not capable of taking advantage of our strengths and not capable of taking advantage of our opponents weaknesses. That should not be blamed on the players. The blame rest with those in charge of directing the team. That starts with the AD and trickles down from there. Some sort of action needs to be taken IMO.

I wish we could define an "almost loss", for the fans who don't get it, and post. I know that I see alot of 'almost losses' with my eyes, but because they are wins, you can't use that in an argument.

Pratt, what would be your guess?

hmmm...

2005:
Arizona St.
Auburn
Alabama
Arkansas

2006:
Tennessee
Ole Miss

2007:
Florida
Auburn
Alabama

2008:
Auburn
fricking Troy
(This on top of our 5 actual losses)

2009:
Washington
Mississippi St.
Georgia

That's 14 games in his tenure where we squeaked by with a W. Now I love a win just as much as the next guy, but these wins aren't always going to be here if things don't change. Eventually that dude is going to start losing more and more of these.

Vandy, La Tech?

against vandy we were up 7 points and they were driving, and a QB threw a horrible pass that popped right off the hands of their WR into brandon taylor's hands

do i need to discuss la tech?

I think JJ's progress is due to his talent, not from coaching. Lee should be an excellent QB by now, but without the proper coaching he is falling behind at the next level. Its sad because he would have made a great QB at LSU had he been taught the things he needed to excell in CFB. Lets hope that JJ does not suffer the same fate.

You think Oregon wants him back? All they have done since showing baldy the door is increase production in almost category. The only area that has gone down is passing, only because Kelly is committed to the run. Led the nation in 07 and top ten in 08 and currently 7th right now. No, they don't want him back. They have less talented players and are doing better, part of that is because of better coaching.

I said everything everyone is saying now at the beginning of the season and I was laughed at. I have seen Crowton in action now for almost 5 seasons. It is time to show him the door.

Hell no! I always wondered why he left Oregon to come to LSU. They have great facilities and a very good nationally recongnized program. Was the pay better? Or did Oregon do like Miles did with Peeveto and Mallory after last season and just let him take a new job so they could get rid of him in a nice way?

The rumor was Belotti told him to find a new job so he wouldn't have to fire him. Belotti is a high class guy like les and didn't want to embarass him. So he was "allowed" to look elsewhere. Trust me, everything that is happening now was happening there except to a point. He seems much worse here. They didn't run the option or stop using the screens. Screens were utilized by the backs, receivers, tight ends and were a staple in Belotti's offense. This makes me wonder how much Les is involved. The pay was better which is hilarious he was able to make more money.....Chip Kelly comes in the next year with almost the exact same personnel and immediately made that offense superior to anything Crowton could do. If Dennis Dixon doesn't blow his knee out Kelly would be called the wizard and have a title under his belt instead of us.

Thnx for the info

Now. I wonder if there is anyone that knows if Les is dipping his hands into the play calling to much or if its mostly Ole Crow making the calls? The QB development should surely fall on the OC, but the play calling and schemes could come from either. Anyone know the answer to this?

...and people kept saying Vandy was a good team. As of last weekend they have yet to win a SEC game this year. A top 10 BCS team should steamroll them.

IMO the problem is the fact we will not adjust in game to something if it is either working or not working

no shite, give the ball to keiland for 20 yards, the next carry comes 3 quarters later...(The only drive this year that was good was the last one against tulane with Ridley, he ran, it worked, we ran again and again...little bit of play action mixed in...

quote:

Crowton refuses to use his player's strenghts. How many times have we seen:

1. The 'speed' option with TH / RS at pitch back ran to the short side of the field?

2. CS running an off tackle from the shotgun across the formation, where he has to move laterally more than going downhill.

3. Fade routes, or lack thereof, to our tall WRs.

4. No 3 step drop play action slants.

5. Spot passes so our WRs have to stand still and wait on the ball rather than a bubble screen or regular routes.

6. Something works, then disappears from the gameplan.

And the list goes on...

And when it comes to QB's reading their progressions, it is my belief that Crowton doesn't give them a progression, but rather instructs them to 'throw it to this guy' ( see Jefferson's quote in regards to the UGA game when CS broke the winning TD run - Crowton called a pass and told him to throw it to Lafell ). This would explain some of JL's tendency to throw pick-6s and JJ's tendency to take a sack - if 'the guy' ain't open, JL forces while JJ holds onto the ball ( see JL's first pick-6 last year vs Auburn; he pumped then threw the ball anyway, almost like he was thinking 'man this is gonna suck'... ).

And don't even get me started on the meerkat offense...

Nice post...
