IMO the problem is the fact we will not adjust in game to something if it is either working or not working, we are not adjusting to our players strengths/weaknesses at all

a playcall is only as good as the whether or not the team executes it. those same type of playcalls were executed just fine when matt flynn was the qb.

When Flynn was QB we still had plenty of Jimboisms in our offense. Every now and then you'd see a half-retard playcall and let it go b/c we were winning.

However, this year we've gone full retard on the playcalls.

Pellini didn't look too promising after his first two games here, but he at least righted the ship. Crowton has clearly regressed this season and the previous season. This is par for the course in his case, as he's done it at every single previous job he's had. Did you see how happy Oregon was to get rid of him? They told us we'd regret hiring this guy, and that it would be the biggest mistake Les Miles has ever made at LSU, but of course this was before the Malloveto disaster.

And he is underachieving with superior talent. I know we shouldn't win every game, but we almost lose every game outside of a few here and there. shite is getting really old. We are a rabbit's foot away from being on South Carolina's level (decent never great)...I don't understand how you people cannot see this.

I wish we could define an "almost loss", for the fans who don't get it, and post. I know that I see alot of 'almost losses' with my eyes, but because they are wins, you can't use that in an argument.

Pratt, what would be your guess?

Crowton refuses to use his player's strenghts. How many times have we seen:

1. The 'speed' option with TH / RS at pitch back ran to the short side of the field?

2. CS running an off tackle from the shotgun across the formation, where he has to move laterally more than going downhill.

3. Fade routes, or lack thereof, to our tall WRs.

4. No 3 step drop play action slants.

5. Spot passes so our WRs have to stand still and wait on the ball rather than a bubble screen or regular routes.

6. Something works, then disappears from the gameplan.

And the list goes on...

And when it comes to QB's reading their progressions, it is my belief that Crowton doesn't give them a progression, but rather instructs them to 'throw it to this guy' ( see Jefferson's quote in regards to the UGA game when CS broke the winning TD run - Crowton called a pass and told him to throw it to Lafell ). This would explain some of JL's tendency to throw pick-6s and JJ's tendency to take a sack - if 'the guy' ain't open, JL forces while JJ holds onto the ball ( see JL's first pick-6 last year vs Auburn; he pumped then threw the ball anyway, almost like he was thinking 'man this is gonna suck'... ).

And don't even get me started on the meerkat offense...

I also want Crowton to return becuase I want to see what he can do with an experience QB. JJ will be a junior with enough experience to have run a high power offense

If JJ is truly healthy this week then the next 3 games could be critical to Crowton's future with LSU. I think JJ has improved somewhat throughout the season. He was playing reasonably well vs. Bama before he went out (considering how good their D is). As much as Miles might like the guy, if we stink it up with a healthy JJ there'll be a bunch of heat on him like there was last year to dump the Co-D-Co's.

If we look good on offense vs. a strong Ole Miss D and then again vs. Arkansas and in the bowl then he stays.

ahhh, the young QB excuse.. two years in a row.

Crowton was never the "wiz"

He wizzed Charles Scott to the Bench in the 2nd half vs UK in '07. This after Scott mauled the Mildcats for close to 100 in the 1st half.

He wizzed our offense into an ineffective POS in the 1st half of the 07 Hog game after we had short fields on three consecutive occasions to open the game.

He had a good game vs VaTech. His claim to fame.

Blame erratic QB play and OLine play all you want, but bottom line, Crowton (or someone's) playcalling has not helped this offense, no matter who is on the field.

When LSU has shown signs of being able to run the ball, they go away from it, and go to this "piss-ant" naked backfield with 5 WR's all bunched together. Let's take a step back and figure out how much more successful we might've been in a 2-TE setup and at least one strong RB in the backfield as a runner, blocker, and/or decoy on play-action passing. We have an ALL-SEC TE in Dickson, who has been more under-utilized than any player on the team. When you have Lafell, Tolliver, and a RS/TH slotback-type receivers to go to on the split-outs, you don't need any more wideouts - one or more will likely need to be double-teamed, which opens up opportunities for the running game and inside passing game to the TE's and RB's.

Crowton and Miles could solve this problem immediately by scrapping this "bust" of a hybrid spread offense. This offense is for "pussies" and/or teams that have talented, bruising QB's like a Tim Tebow who can handle the hits on a regular basis. Jefferson is decent with his feet, but he cannot deliver the ball with accuracy OR check down to multiple receivers like a Tebow, McCoy, or a Bradford. Absent that, these offenses usually don't work well versus quality SEC defenses. A little misdirection is fine, but I vote we go back to power football - Power I/Pro-set offenses or bust for me!

This. TigerinOkieland knows whereof he speaks.

LSU is a power-I, pro formation team. I have yet to understand why Crowton has run more option and 4 and 5 WR sets this season, considering JJ is not an option QB plus the fact he was inexperienced in checking down and reading his second and third options on passing plays.

I am sorry, but I am not one in favor of giving Crowton anymore time to prove himself capable of managing the offense at LSU. The fact LSU ranks 106th in the country is absurd. If Crowton was capable of making adjustments, then he would have done so by now as he is getting paid to adjust over the course of the season, from game to game. The fact is that Crowton either will not adjust or cannot adjust.

After 3 years of steady regression on offense, I have seen enough of Crowton to know a change is warranted.
