Yeah that is why we went 13-1 last year and Crowton is coaching on a losing team in Canada.

STPete, someone below you answered the question correctly, What's been the one common component under every Offensive Co we had. That included Jimbo jFisher, Gary Crowton and the STud-Krag experiment . Well , it was answered above me.

Is it talent? Is all this talent we recruit overrated?

Is it talent? All the talent is generally on the bench while Chase Clement, Mitch Joseph, and JC Copeland are in the game 80% of the time. For example the fullback dive on 1/9 down by Two TD's.

This and we diff do not do a good enough job of developing offensive players.

I think I stated Crowton sucked! But look at our offensive rank over the last 7 years. It has never been good. We win with Defense. But it would be nice to have a little offense to go with it.

The funny thing is that fans are complaining about Miles calling the plays. We came out and threw too much early on. So you all wanted Miles to open it up and he does and now you want him to???

I'm no offensive coordinator, but until there is more play action and a few tosses to the TE's the offense will remain stagnant.

Want him to do better than 0-8 on the first 8 3rd down conversions vs a FCS team. But seriously come up with a scheme that moves the ball and utilizes all of our weapons and talent.

And thru all of this it seems we still rank 90th or worse every year?

everybody seems obsessed with rankings. the object of football is to score more points than the opponent. they call that a win. at the end of the year, the individual game wins are added up and the team with the most of them win the division and then get to play in the championship game. then when the season is over the players with the best stats get trophys while the winning teams go to the national championship game.

My point was everybody wanted us to come out and throw it. We did that and it killed our rhythm. I'm a fan of running early to get your feet under you then mixing in the pass. The fact that we scored as many points as we did last year with the two headed monster is an impressive feat.

Les calls run or pass-
Stud then calls the play

Recipe for disaster

The way most schools fix this is to hire a real OC

The Way CLM fixes this- is he does not- his refusal to give up control has cost him a BCS NC
and may cost him the west this year

Yup, he's the boss. It doesn't matter who the OC is, Miles would dictate how he want to run the offense, and based on his Big 10 coaching experience, we will continue to see the same run-control offense as before. On 3rd-and-4 downs, the scheme would go like this:

CLM: "Hey OC, what play you gonna call?"
OC: "Slant down the middle"
CLM: "But our running game is good, let run down the middle"

Here you go, the same coaching style would go over and over again based on Miles' coaching philosophy.

I think we should run the ball.
