Yes, I've seen some bonehead plays called this season; however, I've seen plays called, especially passing plays, where the receiver is wide, and I mean wide open for td city and the qb throws the ball in the dirt or the receiver drops in-the-hands passes.

Yes, there has definitely been inconsistent play calling. But what do you expect after pick sixes and everyone in town knows you are to run run run.

No, Coach Crowton ain't the problem here, yet.

His scheme in the BCS Championship game alone last year made the hire worth it, regardless of what he does from here on out.

Our offensive play calling is because we don't trust our quarterbacks.

"One play set up another play which set up another play. With Crowton, it always seemed like Monty Python's "And now for something completely different!"

kinda like when he kept rushing perilloux last year to set up the beautiful td to early in the vt game?

and the fake rush by jefferson and then pass to lafell?

and, like any number of plays against osu?

i'm glad he doesnt use One play to set up another play.

half his plays are really good.

the other half?

head scratching...

it's like he doesn't even know what the down and distance is...

or how much time is left in a game, or how many points the team is losing by.

half his calls don't make any sense at all.

To play a little devil's advocate, if the play calling did make sense, wouldn't it be predictable? It sucks when the defense can stack the box to stop the run, but we still can't complete any passes.

Guess this could be why he never lasts long where ever he goes.

Crowton historically starts out better than he ends. But besides some odd play-calling with a freshman QB , I think he has done well overall.

I think we'll be aight once our Qb's grow up and mature and get more experience under their belt.

Maybe some of that is true but I'm not giving up on the guy yet.

Yea, and last year's team had no toughness. Last year's plays were predictable.

I recall reading this post in the past. I have read where the knock on Crowton was that the first year was always great, but the defense eventually caught on to him and years two and three were always a decline from the first year.

You beat me to it. This is also what I read about the Crowton hire. At the time, I figured he would be good because of the talent we have. I still think he can continue to do well for us. The thoughts in the original post also were stated by some media analysts. Crowton is not perfect but our D is MORE of a concern.

I don't subscribe to the philosophy of most on here. I think next year we will do better than this year but we seem to have so many problems that we could be looking at 2 yrs or so to be back at where we were the past few years. A new DC will come here and have to implement his system as well as develop our current players. That is NOT a 1 yr job. We still have no QB that is DEFINITELY ready and 1 summer will not turn them into superior QB's. Improved, Yes. I just don't think that some fans realize how far we have fallen. They look at the situation through purple and gold glasses and point to the excuses. We have some problems that could not be avoided but this team has CRUMBLED in the face of adversity. Not only are we losing, but sometimes there is a lack of effort. This team does not appear to be a cohesive unit.

Hell, the fans are torn, some fans support Miles, some don't. Some fans are in favor of JL and optimistic of his future. Some fans are upset by a lack of time giving to JJ and don't think JL will amount to anything more than a MEDIOCRE QB at best. No group is right or wrong but it just shows that there is division.

All in all, I think Miles is in a tough spot. If he fires his C0-DC's, fans will be mad because the season that could have been without that BAD decision. If he keeps them, fans will be mad because the defense has obvious problems and our current coaches don't appear to have ANY solutions.

Miles chose to dismiss RP and almost EVERYONE was in favor. Nobody knew JL would struggle THIS MUCH and that we would look so bad. He stayed with JL to show support and hoped he would improve as the season went on. JL struggled even more and it culminated in the kid being booed. JJ has got some time but realistically, the kid would prob have us with the same record as we currently have. Maybe he would have shown some improvement, but our season would still be bad.

Miles won a NC last year but many outside our fan base still thought him to be a bumbling idiot who fell into the luckiest wealth of talent. They felt as Sabans recruits transitioned out and his transitioned in, the wheels would begin to fall off. Miles brought RP in, so even though he had to dismiss him, he is the one who over-looked his character. It happens, but it still falls on him. He also thought that the in-house promotion of the Co-DC's were good. That too is on him. This is his animal and hopefully he gets it together. At least give the fan base something to be excited about.

The offense looked pretty awesome in the MNC game

The problem is Crowton is working with Freshman, playing behind in games...with bad feild position ect..

Crowton is hand cuffed a little bit, until the QB's come along better

But that is part of his job, to develop the QB's

too earily to tell just yet

Jesus H. Christ this place is fricking unbelievable. 99% of the people on here are complete fricking idiots. If you believe the offense is the problem then you can lump yourself into that category. First it is said that he doesn't have faith in his players, then it is said that he is an idiot for trusting his players (throwing the ball on 3rd and long on his own 10).

Crowton is not the problem. BDP and DM are the biggest pieces of garbage. That is the problem
