I thought LSU hired firms to help before NIL was even official?

I guess that was money wasted. It’s bizarre that we can be so far behind on NIL. I guess it’s possible the boosters weren’t huge fans of O and supporting him. Maybe now that Kelly is here a lot more will be willing to do this. I guess there is a concern that the ncaa will come down on programs but it’s their own fault for putting 0 parameters in to prevent this.
This is the first true offseason of NIL and the Aggies are possibly pulling the greatest class ever. It’s pretty clear they are taking advantage of NIL. Let’s just hope next offseason LSU is better prepared on that front.

The NCAA does have rules around NIL. Players can market themselves. Coaches can’t facilitate. How do boosters know which potential recruits to pay? Nothing would happen to Bama, but I doubt they let A&M get away with it.

How many threads are going to be started over this

LSU was thoughtful and proactive by setting up a deal whereby the athletes can easily arrange to use LSU official branding, etc.
The NIL is set up to be directly between the athlete and the business. But, it excludes the ability to have the school colors and logos, etc.
We all know it is more valuable to be able to have the athlete appear in his jersey or wearing LSU gear / stating “…of the LSU Tigers…” and so forth. LSU established a one stop shop for piggybacking that deal with any individual deal ( streamlined the process and made it easy and less expensive). That is just about all that the institution is “allowed” to do.

There will be thousands of OPs about nil. Hundreds of them per spurn/flip/transfer etc.
Until LSU fans feel that we have nil by the tail, the threads will continue.
Sounds similar to:
“The beatings will continue until morale improves”

LSU got set up for true NIL deals where a company truly wants to use the athlete for advertisement.
There are two tears of NIL. True advertising and then What A&M. Texas, Bama , and Everyone else (just not as grand of scale) are doing is just funneling direct payments through NIL.

LSU will not catch up through NIL. Too much money going in a different direction. How would it exactly work here and which current institution would suffer as a result?
