He punted twice on 4th and medium/short inside Bama territory and kicked a field goal down 22 in the 4th quarter.

If we're at a talent disadvantage vs Alabama like he says, shouldn't we be aggressive and take chances? Playing conservative against the better team doesn't seem like a good way to pull an upset. What happened to the coach who consistently went for it on 4th down vs UGA?

I think O had done a good job this year up until last night, but it's concerning to see him go back and forth between conservative (Florida/Bama) and aggressive (UGA).

He was coaching scared. Looked shell shocked, defeated.

If those 2 teams played 10 times, Bama would win 10 times...doesn’t really matter what O was going to try...LSU was totally outclassed. They shouldn’t feel too bad...Bama outclassed pretty much every team in the country

Can you blame him?

He probably didn't know where he was at after likely knocking himself out and giving himself a concussion trying to hype the team up.

Second year in a row where he was clearly content to stay in the game and keep the score from getting too bad. Not coaching to win. We had nothing to lose and he coached very timidly. So disappointed. I expected a loss honestly but man
I thought we would be more competitive. The offensive play calling was disappointing as hell

Orgeron looks lost in those situations because he is lost. He has no answers. Other than motivation what qualities does O have that actually helps us on game day? He’s never coordinated anything. What does he bring to the sideline?

I think had we showed more juice on offense, he probably goes for it

I agree, LSU was extremely likely to lose no matter his decisions in those situations. You still want to see him make the correct calls even if the team is outmatched. I don't think he did that.

This! Its the honest truth, O can not step in during the game and help turn things around when things aren't going well. To me you need more from someone thats the head coach, thats why the Sabans, Meyers, Fishers etc work and the Miles and Os don't. You have to have elite coordinators to go with these guys and we only have one and he is not on offense.

The simple truth is O knew he could coast to some decent wins with just our talent alone and knew his job was on the line to produce wins. He could not afford to risk it all with someone he is not familiar with so he pressured Steve to be the OC to buy time.

He did. I was very disappointed in him. We punted at the Bama 38 late in the 3rd d quarter down 22 after the long kickoff return gave everyone something to cheer about. After all the aggressive play calling with going on 4th downs in previous games, he went soft in the biggest game there is.

I think a conservative game plan made more sense last year with much less explosive Hurts running the show for Bama. Against 2018 Bama these kind of decisions are very bad.

You giving him to much credit, he did not coach at all.

this bears repeating about 1000 x

people on this board are way too results oriented and then try to spin results that violet their views

i know it's oft-repeated in reference to Saban, but it's all about the process and making the most +EV decisions in given situations

Right. We want him to make the right decisions when we're in tight games against non-Bama teams.

He was not aggressive at all last nite. You had nothing to lose last nite you should of been aggressive and take some chances. It was conservative the whole nite.

He never coaches. He's a motivational cheerleader. Which is fine with elite coordinators. Unfortunately Ensminger is average at best. And its scary to think where this program would be right now without Aranda.
