Interesting tidbit on a rivalry over a hundred years old.

In 1908, both teams were undefeated and competing for the top spot in the SIAA. LSU beat Auburn 10–2, but both teams may claim SIAA championships, for LSU was charged with professionalism and for some stripped of the title. It was the only game LSU did not win by more than 20 points. “We won every game that fall except LSU,” Auburn star Walker Reynolds told Clyde Bolton in 1973. “But LSU had a pro team

I really do question the average age of posters here when they think this stuff doesn't matter.

Before hating bama was "cool" in the Saban era, LSU got robbed in Jordan-Hare in 2004 AND 2006. going to auburn is the worst. LSU almost lost in 2012 which would have been auburns only conference win that year.

fck that stadium

fck that program.

We've been owned at JHS

Aubie has the better QB
Aubie has the better D-line and maybe secondary based on last week's play

I don't see us winning this game. I do see us winning at home against UGA and possibly Bama though

I suspect this is the best idea.

I suspect that LSU was underrated in preseason polls and jumped significantly after beating a Miami team that was likely overrated by preseason polls.

I suspect preseason polls are generally trash and so knowing how good either Auburn or LSU are based on their respective wins over "top 10" teams is just as big a guess as the preseason rankings.

I suspect we'll find out if LSU is better than Auburn when they play in 2 weeks.

No one is talking about LSU getting blown out. The ball just bounces Auburn's way more often than not in that stadium.

Or LSU has a tendency to shoot themselves in the foot there. 2004 they take the opening kick and Marcus Randall systematically drives LSU the length for a TD. The next drive Saban unnecessarily replaces Randall with Russell...who struggled. I'm not saying Randal was a better QB than Russell, but why mess with early success for no reason? Saban killed LSU's early rhythm

2016 was the QUINTESSENTIAL Les Miles game. The defense kept AU out of the endzone the entire game and despite great opportunity, LSU refused to put the stake in the heart, eventually leading to a crazy ending.

In the 2nd half down 12-7, LSU drives the ball down the field only to get to the 12 and goes ultra-conservative to settle for a FG. AU then gives LSU an absolute gift by fumbling and setting up LSU at the AU 16. Rather than go for the throat, Les is terrified of a mistake once more and predictably runs the ball up the middle three straight times, settling for another FG.

That game was there for the taking and Les refused to do it...which is why it was his last game.

I think the point is that while LSU hasn't won often in JHS, that place isn't as much a house of horrors everyone is making it out to be. LSU routinely plays well enough to win there

Plus I am still furious how bad we got screwed in the 2004 game
with the jumping on the line extra point rule (it was called once all season and the rule was changed the next year) and especially the 2006
game by about 5 horrible calls by refs in that one. Could have easily one both of those games.

We beat Auburn at their stadium in 2012, 2008, 1998 and 1996. So, yes, only 2xs this century (year 2000 and above)-- which is 2 wins and 7 losses there, this century. Not as dramatic as your statement makes it appear.

Barring the first quarter last season Aranda has handled Auburn's offense pretty well. And this is a much better D than '16 & '17. It's a toss-up but there are reasons for optimism.

One of those wins was a 12-10 nailbiter against probably their worst team in the last 20 years. Winning there is extremely difficult.

Auburn’s first game was a microcosm of their season last year

There were times where they looked like a buzz saw. Unstoppable. Dominant, and the. They would shoot themselves in the foot multiple times.

If Auburn puts it all together and we don’t we’ll lose. If we put it all together and they don’t, they’ll lose. Realistically o think it comes down to who can put it mostly together on offense and whose line blocks.

He has to have time to throw. I have serious concerns about our OL vs. Auburn's DL. The OL had a few good plays against Miami, but overall they were subpar. Traore completely whiffed on the first play he was in the game and Burrow got creamed. The pass protection was bad even with the TEs staying in to block.

Maybe you should leave a FAN message board, I’m sure the bama board would accept you. What’s wrong with the guy being pumped about his team that just took down a top 10??

Some of you are such miserable people. I’m all for the positive vibe, I hope LSU wins big, I hate auburn, but LSU will lose if The oline can’t get fixed. I do like that O called out the oline, the previous couch would have said “I like my football team, they have the want to block better”

I agree- winning there is tough. But making it seem like it's 2 wins in the last 100 years (a century) is not reality. We won 2 out of the last 9 trips there (2 or 3 of the losses were with questionable calls by refs and our coaching staff).

it won't be a shocker if we win at Jordan hare with this football team. Not with this defense and Joe burrow at qb.

let joe throw! Let joe throw!

Joe can't throw while lying on his back or getting chased around Jordan Hare. The O line is the question mark of this team. The Auburn D-line is extremely good. Give Joe time. Give Joe time. Open up some holes. Swing the ball out to CEH or to the TE in the flats.

I agree u dub is a good team, and Petersen is a very good coach. I think it will be a really close game, but it will boil down to our oline Really coming together, and WR catching EVERYTHING.

UW is a well coached team, but they do not have the athletes Auburn has. That was obvious when watching the game. We match up better talent wise, but our OL needs to make marked improvement to win the game.

He didn't do that at all.

We've won more at Alabama in the "this century" than we have at Auburn. It is the hardest SEC West stadium for us to win in.

Captain Obvious here but one thing that stood out to me about the Miami game was the offense not going three and out and leaving our defense gassed. Bring on the haters.

LSU was 3 for 16 on third down.

Just saying-- since 2000, we win roughly 1 time in every 3 trips there. In reality, none of the prior games determine this year's result.

And I'm just saying, it's a historically tough place for us to play. Why can't you just accept that?
