Unnecessary to tell us about every little nuance that could be a problem and is lame.
Put the phone in the locker if you need better focus to win games, but don’t wanna hear it.
These guys are men, that’s an elementary excuse.

Sometime, even men need to be led.

But I agree, we don't need to hear about every nuance.

Although, if we never hear a thing then many will complain that nothing is happening in attempt to make things better.

You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of the word excuse.

Banning their phones is a consequence, not an excuse.

Nah by telling us that , its suggestive of it being one of the problems.
Which is an excuse

Oh, my bad. I didn't realize I was replying to an idiot.

Carry on.

And then when JJ gets asked what he’s going to do to get the team better focused, many here would scream “Like what? What are you going to do? Be specific!”

Just to be clear, you’re making the argument that Jay addressing something he may deem as a piece of the total hinderance to the team’s success is, in your book, an excuse?

We clearly have vastly different definitions relative to what describes an excuse.

This x100. People throw the “excuse” line out there waaaaaayyyyyyyy too liberally. Jay blaming the weather would qualify as an excuse. Jay addressing a perceived lack of focus does not.

Ex-cuse

attempt to lessen the blame attaching to (a fault or offense); seek to defend or justify.

Pretty damn close to what I’m saying

By that logic, it would be an excuse if a team has issues with fumbles and the coach says he’s going to add more ball security drills to address the problem.

Basically Jay could never say anything about any method to improvement on any subject ever or Morpheus will think it’s an excuse.

No, it would be like taking away greasy hamburgers before the game because the team is fumbling the ball.

And if the team was sluggish and dragging arse, taking away the burgers may be the correct move.

Just like if this team lacks focus, locking up the electronics could potentially help.

Jay feels the focus isn’t there. He addressed something to attempt to tighten the focus in………….and you’re out here yelling at clouds about it.

No one is yelling in the clouds.
I was saying these little things don’t need to be made public.
I’m just saying on come across as a weak excuse.
That’s all

Yes, we have a few folks around here who will find some reason to complain about coaches’ statements to the press no matter what. Especially after a loss.

It seems like many people view these press conferences/coaches’ shows strictly as an avenue for coaches to reassure the fanbase & justify their continued employment. Which is silly. Jay Johnson isn’t on the hot seat and he has absolutely no need to make “excuses.”

It didn’t come across as a weak excuse to many except you apparently.
