We had what most people believe was the greatest season in college football history! I'll take that and suffer through a down season any day.

THE GREATEST SEASON IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY!!!!!

Taking a down year is one thing. Getting out coached, outplayed, and outclassed is quite unacceptable.

The glory of 2019 will soon fade when every media person covering college football and every non-LSU fan concludes that LSU and Orgeron are one-hit-wonder jokes. That will bleed into recruiting and force a coaching change.

Nobody expected a repeat or even an elite team in 2020. But if you don't think 3-7 (or worse) in 2020 impacts how you remember 2019, you're delusional.

Yeah, a down year for us should be 8-5. We could lose to every team left on our schedule. We are 1-2 against 3 of the bottom 5 teams in the league.

The problem with this logic is that...

This down year, maybe call it disaster year, will completely eliminate all momentum from the natty, ruin future recruiting classes, and turn back the wheels of progress for this program.

Yes, I loved and thoroughly enjoyed last year and will take a subpar year if that was the cost for a championship, but realizing that this year may put this program back in the Stone Age is a terrible pill to swallow

We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was ... better, stronger, faster.

Going to have a lot of down years if the current issues aren't fixed.

I just don’t think that will be the case with this essentially being a “bonus” year and everything being in constant flux.

Now if it happens in 2021 with normal preparation I’ll agree with you.

We had the greatest recruiting year in LSU history, one that delivered a national championship, in 2017. This was after an 8-4 record in a season in which we had to fire our head coach.

I'm speaking from a fan's perspective. If I were in charge I would begin to consider firing P. But he did have 2 defensive stars quit on the team. Just out and out quit. They would have been a difference in both games we lost, but they quit. If I thought he definitely had the talent there and they weren't being coached correctly, I would let him go. Even tho he and 2 big quitters on the defensive side of the ball.

Let me preface this by saying because of my job I live in Alabama. I can assure you the comment you stated above would never be uttered by an Alabama fan. If Bama does not win the NC it’s a disaster season. Alabama won last night and their fanbase is furious. LSU should expect greatness out of each and every Tiger team that takes the field and hold their coaches accountable for being so poorly coached.

20 years from now -

"I don't care that we've gone 146-119 over the last 20 years, we won a national championship in a perfect season in 2019!"

Yeah the opt outs at least had the decency to remove themselves from the team if they were not going to compete
