re: I love the new bats in college baseball but come on

I have no problem with the bats honestly and homeruns didn't cost lsu a game and really could care less still think lsu had a great season. I like the fact that 2 out hits are so much more important now than they were even in 2009 I like bunting being important. Just more than 2 hrs there have been some balls tattooed and have just been fly outs something will change but hope not much

I think they should all use the same crap , wood bats and major league balls

A lot of what LSU batters were swinging at was out of the zone.
And a lot of them weren't, but that doesn't matter anyway. The point is in this park pitchers can work the top of the zone and there are no consequences for mistakes.
As opposed to any other normal place where the intention is to keep the ball down and avoid leaving it up.

And this hurt the game how?
Was a player safety deal. Probably bullshite reasoning, but the thought is that that extra 5 mph could really do some damage if it were to hit a player coming off one of those hot bats.

I'm pretty much with you but something needs to be done at TD Ameritrade.
I saw that NC state guy hit that ball and I thought that thing was gone.
The two hit by Ibarra should've gone in the stands the other night.
Either use the tighter stitched MLB baseballs or, just at TD Ameritrade, use the old bats.
I've seen several hits that were crushed and would've gone out of every other collegiate venue. Something needs to change. If nothing else, just at TD Ameritrade.
It looks like a beautiful park but I'd rather the old Rosenblatt Stadium.

nah. you can't just switch the bats at the big show.
besides, those bats get better with age, they were starting out like the bats now, but they would "warm up" throughout the season

Yeah, you're right. After I thought about it, it would be dumb to change the bats just for the big show at the end.
Changing the balls would be fairly simple though.

The deep flyouts were aggravating, but man, this same thing happened at the box against Stony Brook. Couldn't piece together hits, when we made contact, right fricking at someone. Just had the same frustrating feel to it.

I'm with you on that. I can't tell you the number of times I yelled out, "Come on!!"
It was either that or the runners left stranded. But I'm not trying to dump on the team. (not saying you are doing that either)
They had a great season and they're a great bunch of kids. I wish those leaving the best.

I am all for gorilla ball again, or wood bats.

One thing I've been wondering, not thinking there's a conspiracy theory or anything like that, but it seems like almost any bat used by any other team has that old "ping" to it and the ones we use have more of a "crack" sound.
Am I the only one that noticed this?

Thee is a misconception that homeruns were the problem with the old bats, which is not true - Texas leaguer's off the fist were the issue.
NCAA only has the top 35 teams for any given stat pre-2001, so using that ( ~13% of the D1 teams ) and comparing to 2013 and the top 4 MLB teams, you can see the numbers easily:
1997 ( height of HR for LSU ):
Top 35 Team BA: 0.365 to 0.330
Top 35 Team R/G: 10.71 to 8.5
Top 35 Team 2B/G: 3.08 to 2.31
Top 35 Team 3B/G: 0.64 to 0.40
Top 35 Team HR/G; 2.69 to 1.36
2013:
Top 35 Team BA: 0.334 to 0.298
Top 35 Team R/G: 8.3 to 6.5
Top 35 Team 2B/G: 2.53 to 1.97
Top 35 Team 3B/G: 0.64 to 0.34
Top 35 Team HR/G; 1.20 to 0.70
MLB top 4:
Team BA: 0.281 to 0.272
Team R/G: 5.11 to 4.82
Team 2B/G: 2.18 to 2.01
Team 3B/G: 0.43 to 0.25
Team HR/G; 1.31 to 1.24
First thing to note is that the talent spread in the MLB is a LOT more equal than in college - case in point, MLB all team average HR/G is 1 while 2013 NCAA is 0.421.
Triples doubles are almost a wash all around, but scoring, and batting average stand out in 1997 vs MLB. You might say HRs do too, but note that at #35, you are already at 1.36 vs 1.24 for MLB; considering the talent spread in college ball, this seems a lot more in line than only 5 teams averaging 1+ HR/G out of 296, which is what we have in 2013.
College baseball needs a bat with the sweet spot like 1997 and a barrel toward the fist with even less pop than today to simulate the broken bat hits of MLB.

LSU didn't lose their games due to the bats. They had a poor approach to the plate and never adjusted. Rhymes Bregman ibarra and jacoby had a total of 1 hit all together in both games. It was just terrible batting all around.

Doesn't have to be a super hero, just a specialist. You could really see the difference between LSU's style and some of the others when it comes to hitting.

I'd like to see the next season of baseball with the MLB ball.
(officials said probably no change til 2015 )
I don't want to see us live and die off of the longball.
I want to see baseball that is mostly balanced, just barely offensively heavy.

There's a nice medium there somewhere between the old bats and the new bats
Yes, they had it in 2008 and 2009 but took it away!
