I love it. Mellon refuses to donate millions to GOP for failing to pass the SAVE Act!!

I pray he makes sure any Republican who opposed the measure is castigated 24/7 in ways billionaires know how. His support for the GOP House remains, but his support for the GOP Senate is NADA!!

When will people learn that, outside of executive appointments, having a majority the Senate but less than 60 seats is not “in power” and able to pass a broad partisan program.
It’s functionally a coalition government.

It is only that way because they CHOOSE to make it that way. There are ways to get this done.

Enjoy what the Democrats do with that starting next January.
The reasonable thing to do is simply govern and pass consensus legislation but everyone on both sides decided after 9/11 that we just weren’t going to do that anymore. Attaching poison pills so you can campaign against the other side for not passing it is preferred—both in Congress and on this site.

if Republicans nuked the filibuster and passed some legislation, maybe their poll numbers wouldn’t be so bad and they could keep control of Congress.
But even if the Dems have both chambers and the White House, then we should have to live with the consequences. And if the people are fed up with that, they can vote the Republicans back in.
The founders never intended to have a 60 vote threshold.

So keep cloture in place and let them release a virus and kill millions, try and kill the president three times. I think Ill take my chances, end cloture and start governing again instead of this bull shite with no budget and omnibus bills, and all the spending with no supervision or accountability.
