Kiffin's immaturity will do him in IMHO. His template has never been conducive to long term success and I don't think he's suddenly figured it out.

Kelly has explicitly said his plan was to use the portal the first couple years to plug the holes on the depleted roster he inherited but he wanted to transition to filling the roster through high school recruiting. And it certainly seems like he's firmly sticking to that plan with being minimally involved in the portal to this point. Problem there is his high school recruiting is lagging. D-line and CB are largely non-existent in this class. It was a positional weakness this season, it's not being addressed in the recruiting class and it's not being addressed in the transfer portal. Alabama has as stacked of a roster as it gets and they're adding 2 corners.
It's not an either or game. You gotta play both. Thats the game now and I think Kelly is hesitant to play the game our peers are playing with portal free agency bidding.

He's been a head coach at 3 major college football teams, fired at S.Calw on an airport runway, left Tenn. in the middle of the nite, his office surrounded by burning sofas & protesting students, destroying the program, & now at O. Miss, constantly rumored to leave for every major job opening....and has won absolutely ZERO.
