what are your thoughts on LSU winning all of it regular season games except Florida. Florida goes undefeated up until the SEC title game. We beat them in the title game and go on to play in the BCS title game. Think we could potentially play Florida 3 times this year? Again, crazy, but do you think this is even a remote possibility?

I guess it's a possibility but I expect USC, Penn St, Texas or OU to have only 1 loss at the end of the year.

I would love to see the complete meltdown of the Pac 10, Big 12, and Big 10 fanbases.

Same scenario that was stated on the CBS College Football special a week ago. Except LSU would beat Florida in the regular season and loose to them in the SECCG. Then play for the BCS title.

Yep, that's what Gary Danielson predicted.

Oklahoma was in and they got hammered in their conference championship game.(2003).

Strength of Schedule was a big factor in the BCS formula in 2003. The BCS formula was tweaked to basically take SOS out of it so USC would quit whining.

Now because the BCS formula is so "human poll" friendly, the voters would not let a non-Conference Champ in the BCS title game unless all of the other teams had two bad losses or more.

I am convinced that nothing is impossible in this crazy system that we have right now. Though I have to say I probably couldnt stand all the bitching from the news media that we would hear if UF/LSU actually played three times in one year.

The only way it would work is if LSU loss its only game to UF in the regular season, then beat an undefeated UF team in the SEC champ.

If there are no undefeated teams outside the SEC, LSU would get the nod for the NC game and then with all the UF hype, they could maybe get to the NC game over a one loss USC, OU, or whoever.

Doesnt even work out then. It will never happen. Since the tweak made after 2003, a team that does not win their conference will not play for the national championship. Pollsters will not allow it to happen. Done. Over. Not a thought.

What if florida goes undefeated and loses to LSU in the SEC champ.LSU and florida both have only one loss (which is to each other) and florida still gets the nod for the NC game because of preseason rankings etc...???

Don't you mean a meltdown of everyone else in the country outside of Baton Rouge and Gainesville? Though it would cement the SEC as THE football conference.

Logistically though, how would that work? Does the sugar bowl lose its sec team then?
I vaguely recall a two team per conference limit on BCS games. I imagine the BCS and all of the conference commissioners will also go stir-crazy.

DirtMcGirt13, I know what your saying and I almost 100% agree with you, but you can't say there's no chance on anything definately not happening with college football. Before the 07 Championship, I think we all would have said there's not a chance in hell a 2 loss team wins the national championship I mean I know I would have bet you a lot of money that would not happen. You think the posters were happy the day they had to vote us into the slot for the bcs title game? I doubt it, but as they looked at all their options, that was there only good option.

Not too mention the credibility level the SEC is on right now is sky high, If the situation was just right, I mean it would have to be absolutely perfect, but I would not say never.

The first part was (and is) my prediction for this year (11-1 regualr season with loss to Florida, revenge in SECCG). I do not, however see them playing three games. As another poster said, all of the other contenders would need at least 2 losses, and I don't see that happening.Even a strong 2 loss team could leapfrog them if the voters decide to tweak their ballots to avoid an All SEC BCSCG.

Yes. That's exactly how LSU was going to get into the Rose Bowl against SC back in '06. The expected Ohio State-Michigan matchup would take both Big 10 teams out of the Rose Bowl equation, forcing them to take a non-Big 10 team. With Florida or Arkansas (presumably Florida) headed to the Sugar Bowl as SEC Champs, LSU was available and the logical choice. Of course, the pollsters decided against the rematch and gave Florida the nod instead of Michigan, allowing SC to face a Big Ten team after all.
