How do you actually for one second compare the Patriots situation who was already a contender to the lowly Cincinnati Bengals situation and say they were almost the same.

Exactly, and the Bengals weren't the better team. The Rams bought exactly who and what they needed for that sad arse title and McVay is an ok coach that got to benefit from it.
