I'd just like to make the point that on the average, and we have the largest sample size in all of CFB, LSU players fare quite well in the NFL.
With that being true, our players (again, on the average) aren't leaving "too early".
It would be one thing if they leave, en masse or in lower numbers, and go un-drafted or get cut as draftees. That would point to they are getting bad advice (and poor recruiting and/or development). But they are not.

Provide numbers if you are going to claim avg.

It amazes me the amount of people on this site that encourage LSU players to skip the bowl game or leave campus early. If you are a first round pick, sure, I understand (about the draft, not the bowl). But LSU loses guys like Malachi Dupree. LSU loses more underclassmen to the NFL draft than any other school and it shows with our 9-4 records. One would think the schools that annually compete for the CFB Playoff Spots would lead in underclassmen declaring, seeing as their teams win the most games. Nope, come to LSU, maybe win a Texas Bowl, then bolt as soon as you can.

LSU sells their program on being NFLU. Stay 3 years go pro.
This is definitely the way Les whored the program out to recruits.

with a few exceptions, it has nothing to do with the college program. It's all about NFL draft grade and money.
And there's nothing wrong with that.

I mean frick its gotten so bad you have people jumping for joy and saying "ohhhh but I thought all our players leave early!!" over a late round OL returning and a safety that had no prayer of getting draft returning. We should assume guys like that are coming back

You really wanted Miles to not go after 4 and 5* recruits because they might leave after 3 years? That's stratosphericly idiotic.

Because the player know how bad MILES fricked up the program and then LSU fricked it up even more with Coach O.
Player used to commit to certain universities in hopes of winning a National Championship and get a degree, and then hopefully to the NFL.
Now they are only concerned with making it to the NFL so they either leave early or find a Coach that will give them a better chance to make the NFL.

stop bringing up the 1%. If your a projected top 20 pick you leave. Simple as that.

While a lot of what has been said are factors, I feel each player asks himself this question ?
How likely is that I will really play in the NC ?
If they are on a team that has been in it, or close to it, they will believe that it can be done and could possibly stay; however, if it along shot, or very long shot and they can not visualize the possibility, they will likely go for the NFL $.
Teams like Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Georgia have an easier sale, because they are likely, or it is possible that they will be in it....a matter or "probabilities".

I agree with what you said but these are NOT fricking kids. They are grown arse men.
Yeah, 18-22 year old kids on a college roster are just that...no life experience outside of wind sprints, blocking drills and the occasional romp with Susie cotton crotch on her mother's couch.
However, each deserves to be able to start becoming a man anytime they wish by making their own way in the world.

VERSUS millions of dollars - that is bull crap. Each decision is based on its own merit. You guys are stretching to knock LSU's program. Why not become a fan elsewhere if it is so bothersome.

How many of our player's are projected top 20 pick? 1?
Posted on 1/16/18 at 11:30 am to Catman88
The kid from stanford is projected top 20. Absolutely no reason for him to stay.
Also, there was absolutely no reason for Jarvis Landry, ODB, Fournette, etc. etc. to stay. Be rational with your thoughts.

In the year 2018 how many of LSUs players that declared for the draft projected in the top 20?
Posted on 1/16/18 at 11:36 am to Catman88
99% of these collegiate athletes come from nothing. Let it go and let them go chase the money.
I know it hurts your feelings to see them leave Baton Rouge, but give it a break.

So what your data shows is that O was not an upgrade from Miles.
OK, I'm in.
