Yeah, I rolled my eyes at that part too. But he's not wrong that LSU has a big problem on its hands when it comes to showing it did all it was supposed to do under Title IX. Sure doesn't look that way and the NCAA is going to be asking a lot more questions now.

Actually if they were also covering up for non-athletes, it isn't an NCAA issue. See the UNC case.

Verge deleting his text messages will probably cost him his job. But do we think this whole thing is a "coordinated coverup"? I don't.

It looks like just about all branches of LSU power were in this game of dismiss, divert, disregard and deny female accusers of various deviant behavior by football players and others, including rape and beatings. The football program, a tennis coach, a diving coach, two senior athletic administrators, the athletic department, the university, the Title IX office and LSU Police — they were all in.

With all those people covering his arse you’d think he’d fricking run to the right side on 4th down from the 1.

Some of the victims are very afraid of retaliation.

I've known women (not from school) who didn't report assault bc they thought nothing would be done

LSU absolutely failed these alleged victims, nobody worth listening to would disagree.

Like I said earlier though, there’s a big difference between incompetence and conspiracy.

That’s why you go to the police if you are raped, going to the university about it seems like you aren’t really serious about the allegation, IMO

Spot F'ing On.
If on campus, should have gone to LSUPD.
If off campus should have gone to BRPD.
Get the official rape kit, exact story on record.
It's not right, could LSU could have done more, sure, are the suspects Saints, no..
but why leave it up to the tennis coach..go to the real Police.

My Alma mater is turning soft
One thing about this pandemic is there is plenty of things I can occupy my time with that doesn’t include LSU

Yeah, of all the folks in the athletic department I gotta think Verge is the most likely to get axed over this. He had a pretty clear responsibility to report under Title IX and it doesn't look like he did that.

Well that seems very irresponsible with COVID entering its third “cataclysmic spike.” Or is this one of those gatherings where the virus can’t be spread...unlike ballgames and Thanksgiving?

What these (presumably all women) are alleging are CRIMES. We have a criminal justice set up to handle such things. From the police who investigate and enforce the law to DA’s who prosecute the accused. THAT is the arena in which these allegations should be handled. Not left up to some Mickey Mouse administrative body in a Mickey Mouse administrative process almost entirely devoid of due process to the accused...which the BEDROCK of our criminal justice system.

Because they know with Title IX, the burden of proof is on the accused, not the accuser.

Ed will be the fall guy. You can get away with a lot of shite these days, but anything pertaining to sexual assault is a death sentence.

Just let him stay long enough to get this recruiting class in the door.

Title IX requires universities to curb sexual assault. It’s been successfully argued that by not doing so, it doesn’t allow for equal rights of education.

LSU has no choice but to investigate.

Well, that's not quite true but it would definitely be fair to say that a Title IX hearing is nowhere near like having your day in a real courtroom.
