At the top of the season, this was predicted to happen. I think we all kinda hoped that the defense was under-rated, but in actually they are simply green as grass. Very, very talented but very very green. They will improve no question, so as far as coaching is concerned,I don't think we have mediocre coaching of the D-backs at all. Georgia has a monstrous offense as well, don't forget that.

After watching the film study on TR, you have to ask how could Loston be a 5th year senior and be so lost on his responsibilities? Either he is dumb as a post or has been coached very poorly. There seem to be a good number of highly recruited players who really are quite unremarkable: Loston, Freak, Rasco.

film study? TR? what are you talking about?

so you are correct when you say i have no clue and it seems i am not alone.

No what I am saying is everyone is quick to blame the coaches, do they have some responsibility obviously so because CLM said it himself they have to do a better job of coaching them up. That being said, the inexperience on the defense is the biggest component to what the problems are on defense. Do we have as talented a defense as in years past, probably not but they do have talent it just takes time when you are pressed into 8 new starters on defense.

Watch and see they will get better as the season progresses. What everyone seems to be forgetting it is tough to go on the road into a hostile environment in the SEC against a very good team and win. We had our chances but came up short. Can the defense play better, absolutely both the coaches and players know they have to or A&M and Bama are going to have a field day with us.

damn good post. what i really hope you are correct on is the feeling that this defense will improve as the year progresses. i will be relieved as i'm sure most fans and all the coaches and players will.

we really damn near pulled it off in athens, didnt we? even with that defense. the way i figure it we won't see an offense as good as murray and company again this year. i'm not discounting jff or aj but overall i think uga is better on that side of the ball. their OL was awesome.

Advocate article today quoted Miles as saying secondary problems were communication and have been fixed.

It wasn't communicated well enough or fast enough so the LBers and the nearside CB and S heard but the far Corner and Safety didn't

Miles did say that communication was an issue. He used to say that alot about a coach we used to have. A guy by the name of Crowton.

In the end, when you have a bunch of guys that are man 2 man type corners in talent, and you force them to play zone with poor DB coaching, this is what you will get, tons of confusion and blown assignments. Raymond simply is overrated by many as a coach and hasn't proven pretty much anything coaching DBs in his 4.5 years coaching the position so far.

Yep, j collins and mills are man to man guys.

We gave up two long TD passes to Auburn the week before. Were we lost and confused then also? Or has a weakness been exposed?

The DBs got beat on those, but the coverage was still kinda there, at least the throws were perfect. Murray threw to wide arse open receivers almost all day. Yes, the D shite the bed against a top six team on the road with a QB who's gonna end up being the SEC's career passing yards leader. However, I don't think the coaches forgot how to coach because of it. We've got a lot of premier, but inexperienced talent, and just as many guys that are not performing up to their expectations. Hopefully they get it together.
